This morning, at around 11AM PST, I got a worried call at work from my wife, who was home watching Turner Classic Movies on Wave Broadband, on cable channel 75. The remote was across the room. Suddenly the programming changed to CNN, which is on channel 36, where Obama was talking, apparently live, about Healthcare.
My wife got the remote, but it wouldn't respond to the channels she punched in. After about a minute or two, the programming switched back to Turner Classic Movies, but after neither switch was the channel number identified as it would be if an actual change in channels had taken place.
She was freaked out, and called our local Wave Broadband office, who told her they knew nothing about this. My wife explained that we don't watch CNN, and that she doesn't trust the government, and the woman on the other end said she simply didn't have an explanation, but to call back if it happened again.
Anyone out there have an explanation or any insight into this, or any similar experiences? Kind of spooky, given the current climate. My wife was really freaked out, thinking this was some sort of dry run for a take over of the "airwaves".

That’s strange.
I was on the phone with my mom around that time, talking about plans for an up coming birthday get together for my brother, when she couldn’t hear me anymore. After she hung up, she then couldn’t reach me. My husband had the same thing happen to him at work around the same time. It was a conference call, and the line got disrupted.
Very strange. We are with COX. Hmmm.
This isn’t the first report I’ve heard of things like this happening. A few days ago, several people complained their cable company locked all the channels to CSPAN during a speech by President Obama. I would have called it a fluke but I saw people mentioning it on several unrelated (some unpolitical) forums.
I am not going to go into the conspiracy it is a test to take over the airwaves Big Brother style (yet). IMHO, these are cases of True Believers at the stations.
When I got home last night my wife told me the same thing about the TV automatically changing to the communist news network (CNN) and wound not change out of that channel. she turned the TV off for awhile then turned it back on and it worked as usual. We are also customers of comcast here in WA.

You just discovered the reason for the mandated switch to digital tv. The feds had no control over the analog signal, they have total control now. Same with the mandated switch to digital signal cell phones. Its not about about better signal/service, its all about control....red
