I was just hearing about an execution that was taking place, but after poking him nine times to get the IV in his vein they gave up. Now they are saying they shouldn't try again. Then I heard about this execution.
The only problem is, the way death penalty appeals go these days (even in Virginia), it’ll be November 10, 2027.

I’m afraid you’re right. Most murderers get to spend at least 20 or 30 years on death row, bringing appeals at taxpayer expense. And Virginia seems to be getting more liberal than it used to be.

This is Virginia, second only to Texas in carrying out death sentences.

That's the old meme, you need to get with the times! The new template is that killings in black communities aren't investigated thoroughly, so what may be serial killings are written off as singlular incidents.
Of course Wayne Williams put both notions to rest back in the 70's, but it's just not politically correct to say or believe so.
Back when this was going on, one of the guys in my department was investigated by the FBI in connection to the sniper case. I remember that it seemed just surreal.
It turned out that it was his nasty and vengeful ex-wife that reported him to the FBI tip line. She knew that he lived in the area and owned a Bushmaster rifle like the one being used in the shootings. The FBI was pretty cool about it, though. We could show that he wasn’t anywhere near the areas of the shootings when they happened, and they left him alone.

Nitrogen Asphyxiation
Simply the cleanest, no pain, no mess, environmentally friendly way to execute someone. Strap on the mask, turn on the 100% pure Nitrogen (tanks available at welding stores) to 1.1 atmospheres, wait 5 min and check for brainwave activity. If brainwaves still present, wait 5 and check again. Repeat until no brainwave activity.
