I don't buy the "tens of thousands" or the "2 million."
"A House leadership aide warned fellow Democrats in a memo obtained by FOXNews.com that up to 2 million people may attend.
It looks like Saturdays event is going to be a huge gathering, estimates ranging from hundreds of thousands to 2 million people, Doug Thornell, an aide to Rep. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., wrote, noting that a demonstration held Thursday turned into an impromptu rally for Rep. Joe Wilson, who has come under fire for his outburst during Obamas nationally televised speech to a joint session of Congress.
Conservatives have seized on this memo as proof democrats are playing an expectations game. They say the House leadership wrote the memo in hopes it would be leaked and inflate expectations for the turnout anticipating that it will fall short."
I have no idea how many were there, but our local Conservative radio station had several people over there and they were making cell phone broadcasts from there several times during the day - 10 am the report was between 700 and 800,000 by 1 pm they said that a police Capt. estimated between 1.2 and 1.3 million. They said that there were buses still backed way back trying to get to where they could unload and the metro was still running fully loaded bringing in more people.
Appears there were enough people there that they were overloading the cell towers, as they said they were having to try 15-20 minutes to get a cell phone connection each time.
Oh, wasn’t that little program Thursday the group of Doctors over there opposing 0bamacare?
I’ve been analyzing filled stadium photos to get an idea of what a crowd of about 60K looks like. IN doing that, and looking at satellite images of Obama’s inauguration, I think HIS numbers were around 1 million and not more than that.
I think today’s crowd was 500K at the march, which is still very impressive. If you include latecomers, well, maybe 550K
Can you provide Freedom Works link to that statement? I can’t find it on their site, thanks!
