Up to two million people marched to the U.S. Capitol today, carrying signs with slogans such as "Obamacare makes me sick" as they protested the president's health care plan and what they say is out-of-control spending.
The line of protesters spread across Pennsylvania Avenue for blocks, all the way to the capitol, according to the Washington Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency.

FreedomWorks Foundation, a conservative organization led by former House of Representatives Majority Leader Dick Armey, organized several groups from across the country for what they billed as a "March on Washington."
Organizers say they built on momentum from the April "tea party" demonstrations held nationwide to protest tax policies, along with growing resentment over the economic stimulus packages and bank bailouts.

Many protesters said they paid their own way to the event - an ethic they believe should be applied to the government.

Today's protests imitated the original Boston Tea Party of 1773, when colonists threw three shiploads of taxed tea into Boston Harbour in protest against the British government under the slogan 'No taxation without representation'.
The group first began rising to prominence in April, when the governor of Texas threatened to secede from the union in protest against government spending. Waves of tea party protests have crossed America since.
Today's rally, the largest grouping of fiscal conservatives to march on Washington, comes on the heels of heated town halls held during the congressional August recess when some Democratic lawmakers were confronted, disrupted and shouted down by angry protestors who oppose President Obama's plan to overhaul the health care system.

Best coverage of the US political process is by the Brit papers.
I saw somewhere, the DC police had said 1.5 to 2 million as well. I would tend to trust what they said. And the video posted here, a time lapse, was just incredible!! It gave a very good depiction of the crowd size much better than a single shot could.
A hearty thanks to all the marchers who marched for those of us who couldn't make it to D.C.
I was hearing reports around noon that police were blocking entry into the city and turning away thousands of cars and buses.
"many half-dozens" is technicaly accurate, but..........
American Journalism is an utter and complete FAILURE.
And Foreign media continues to reveal what a pathetically embarrassing and useless pack of swine American left media really is.
Great chart! Bookmark!
To give NBC and CBS credit, they really don't have anyone smart enough to count to 3000 so they thought they were making up a big number.
...Looking back, it’s a good thing that me father was a college football player, and a college math major, a doughnut maker and a Naval officer. He learned me arithmetic first, because my tall, skinny arse wasn’t gonna make it bein’ an athlete. That would be for me younger brothers...
... A bakers dozen is 13, 1/2 dozen is 6.5 x many = $13 trillion in 2014, carry the 75 year olds that are allowed to be a factor, Minus the aborted number, X co signed by 51, vectored in to the obtuse angle with the administration factor...
...Why is this so difficult to understand???
not guilty
They are not invited to tony Georgetown Parties with Obama insiders, nor are they beholden too or bought off with political contributions, etc. so they are able to be objective. The foreign press are on the OTHER side of our internal, domestic MSM BERLIN WALL, telling the TRUTH!!
There reporting of events in the UK is just as bad as the way the US media reports events in the USA.
They had decent fair news coverage Sat night. The local news is nowhere near as screwed up and biased as the national news is.
The sheriff had about 10-12 deputies helping with control. They had set up a tent for the deputies on each side of the road, and had several cars keeping people off the road.
We had thought maybe 200 would show, since it was drizzly-raining constantly ... But big golf umbrellas were standard duty. Great time meeting all the people.
That video was taken at Freedom Plaza. Not in the video were more people already gathered at the Capitol and at the Washington monument.
What is so funny about it? I hope you don’t think that the tea party was in 1776.
I was there. There were more than a million. I don’t know the exact count, as no one does, but it didn’t matter which direction you looked, there were wall to wall people as far as the eye could see. The streets were filled, the sidewalks were filled, the mall was filled, the capitol grounds were filled and the people just kept coming. It was an AWESOME sight for Freedom!! They were there from as far away as Hawaii and Alaska.
I was there, too.
When our buses arrived, we were dropped off at the western end of Freedom Plaza around 9. The crowd continued to grow and the march started early because they said we were overflowing the area.
We thought we would be bringing up the rear but as we moved along it was obvious that there were a LOT of people, and i mean A LOT!! behind us.
The coolest thing, often there would be a roar of sound (people cheering) rolling up behind us like a wave, engulfing us as we joined in, and then continued on. I have NEVER heard anything like it!
