interesting tie between Christopher Kelly & Eric Holder:

And that’s not all. As I recount in Culture of Corruption, now-Attorney General Eric Holder signed up to assist Blago in a casino license battle in 2004. The state’s gaming board had approved the construction of a disputed casino, overruling the recommendation of the board’s staff. Rank-and-file investigators had qualms over the casino developer’s alleged mob ties and over Blago’s appointment of a crony fund-raiser to oversee the state’s deal-making with the casino. The fund-raiser was…

…Christopher Kelly.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported that Rezko “held an option to lease a hotel site next to the proposed casino site.” Holder held a public press conference with Blago to announce his role as a special “independent” investigator into the matter. The dog-and-pony show produced no report, but Holder and his law firm had contracted to conduct the probe for a tidy $300,000. Somehow, the foul-smelling case slipped Holder’s mind; he failed to mention it in his Senate Judiciary Committee questionnaire.

It just gets more bizarre!

WLSAM local radio reporting this morning that:

1) Chris Kelly absolutely did NOT admit he tried to commit suicide.

2) Reports of surgery to “genital area” are curious because coroner reports there was NO surgery!

4/16/2008 article -— “Clarissa Flores, a co-owner of the V Live”
“Manny Flores (no relation)”

This was fast. Chicago Journal article about Club 2047 late liquor license community meeting held Tuesday April 15th 2008. A link to the article and a copy of the article is below.

4/16/2008 10:00:00 PM Nightclub seeks late liquor license Neighbors warn club could attract crime

By TIMOTHY INKLEBARGER Editor

Owners of a new three-story nightclub and restaurant in Logan Square got a lukewarm reception this week from neighbors concerned that their application for a 5 a.m. liquor license could bring crime into the neighborhood. The nightclub V Live, 2047 N. Milwaukee, is not set to open for at least three months, but neighbors said at a community meeting Tuesday that it’s predecessor, the OK Corral nightclub, attracted prostitution, vandalism and late night rowdiness.

Clarissa Flores, a co-owner of the V Live, said the new venue would be nothing like the OK Corral. She said the venue would include a ground level restaurant with high-end Mexican food, a second floor area for private events, and a third-floor nightclub with an estimated capacity of about 1,500. She said the team of partners working to open the club-some of whom are co-owners of the Aragon Ballroom in Uptown-has spent upwards of $9 million renovating the building.

She said the club would include infrared video surveillance inside and outside the building, and a team of about 40 to 50 security officers would patrol the building during and after events. She said that although the club has applied for a 5 a.m. liquor license, it plans to stop serving alcohol at 3 a.m. on Fridays and Sundays and at 4 a.m. on Saturdays. “There is no comparison to what we’re doing and what was here previously,” she told about 50 neighbors who attended the meeting.

Neighbor Joe Kopera said he’s most concerned about the late night crowd the club will attract. “My main thought is when you have a late liquor license and the other bars close at 2 or 3 a.m. they’re drunk already, and they’re going to be coming into our neighborhood sitting in the cars, drinking liquor and doing drugs in the car,” Kopera said.

Flores said the club’s security team would follow patrons to their vehicles at the end of the night to make sure there are problems. “How much control will the security have a block and a half from here?” Kopera asked. Johnny Elias, president of the Greater Goethe Neighborhood Association, said he believes that without a coordinated effort between the club owners, the police and the community, it’s unlikely that neighbors will support the plan.

First Ward Alderman Manny Flores (no relation) said he needs to be better convinced of the club’s security plan before giving his support to the late liquor license. Flores said he and his staff would hold another meeting in the next week to further detail the club’s proposal. Those interested in learning more can contact Flores’ office.

http://www.chicagobreakingnews.com/2009/09/christopher-kelly-may-have-taken-rat-poison.html

Christopher Kelly placed a mattress in a rented trailer at a suburban lumberyard Friday night, set up photographs of his children around it, then ingested pills and possibly rat poison, according to a source with specific knowledge of the investigation into Kelly’s death.

For some reason, he then left the trailer and attempted to drive away from the area. He made it only about 100 feet in the parking lot of the Forest Lumber yard before contacting his girlfriend, touching off a chain of events that saw Kelly taken to two hospitals before he died.
One of Kelly’s best friends, who had been sought by police since attempting to drive Kelly’s SUV from Oak Forest Hospital, has now given a statement to police detailing what happened that night, the Tribune has learned. Country Club Hills police officials are expected to lay out a more detailed timeline of events later today at an afternoon press conference.

The friend, Michael Allen, gave his statement to authorities yesterday, said a source with specific knowledge of the situation. Police have recovered containers of rat poison that Kelly may have used.

The Olympics are a sick, corrupt boondoggle,
and do not belong in Chicago, murder capital
of the USA .. decrepit infrastructure ..billions
in debt, along with the rest of the state.

They’re all pushing in and selling it with very
tool in the box and with their might, including
the WH. Disgusting .. and in the end, it’s still
all pay to play and continuing typical Machine
thuggery.

From the Olympics meeting at the VLive Club in July:

“There was also a plea to remember the youth and benefits that could impact them the rest of their lives. Youth are important, according to Ryan and Healey, and they have already set up World Sports Chicago. A UNION member said that he was glad to hear they were planning to use UNION members in the construction of the various venues.”

Obamas host Chicago 2016 White House event next Wednesday

WASHINGTON—With a host city decision a few weeks away, President Obama and First Lady Michelle, in a move to bolster Chicago’s bid for the 2016 Olympics, will host Olympians and Paralympians at the White House next Wednesday, I’ve been told.

WASHINGTON—With a host city decision a few weeks away, President Obama and First Lady Michelle, in a move to bolster Chicago’s bid for the 2016 Olympics, will host Olympians and Paralympians at the White House next Wednesday.

Meanwhile, I’ve also learned White House Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett is traveling to Copenhagen to help convince International Olympic Officials to pick Chicago when they announce the 2016 games host city in Denmark on Oct. 2. Chicago is competing with Rio de Janeiro, Madrid and Tokyo for the summer games.

The White House has not said yet if President Obama will also fly to Denmark for the last pitch but he is likely to if his presence can make a difference.

In July, Obama taped an appeal to support Chicago’s bid when International Olympic officials met in Abuja, Nigeria. In June, the White House announced creation of a new White House Office of Olympic, Paralympic and Youth Sport.

The event the president and Mrs. Obama will be hosting next Wednesday is with the new Olympic office and the Chicago 2016 group that has been trying for years to land the games in Chicago. Jarrett was part of that leadership when she was in Chicago and now directs the White House part of the U.S. drive to get the games in Chicago.

I was told by the White House the Olympic athletes and paralympic athletes will in a sense be doing double duty—boosting Chicago at the White House in the afternoon while also promoting youth sports and healthy activities at Washington area schools in the morning.

Olympics angle — watching for that tie in every Chicago/WH connection-—powerful motive;

Chicago has put out the message that BHO MUST go to Copenhagen. Many think he will make a “surprise” grandstanding visit at last minute

“the well has run dry.”

Bringing the Olympics to Chicago would represent Daley’s crowning glory, showing the world how the city has changed under his guidance. But the Olympics would do more than validate the mayor’s track record — the Games represent what could be his best chance of overcoming the financial troubles that have made his job increasingly difficult.

Daley frequently touts the economic benefits of the Olympic Games, including a predicted influx of federal money for public works projects.

“The Olympics is not his going-away party or his great pyramid,” said Paul Vallas, the mayor’s former schools chief and budget director. “He sees this as an opportunity to provide an economic jolt at a time of a serious downturn.”

The bad economy has left Daley unable to fulfill his 2007 promise of generous wage increases to unionized employees for the next 10 years. Instead, Chicago has been forced to take many of the same cost-cutting measures as other cities and private companies, including layoffs and furloughs.

“The mayor’s biggest problem is financial,” added Vallas, who now runs the public schools in New Orleans. “The well has run dry.”

Boy..those Chicago mob thugs sure know how to set up a ‘suicide/murder scene’, don’t they?!

How do you go from ‘ready fight and spill the beans in court’ and getting elective surgery to being suicidal in a few short days? The thugs probably set up the pics of his kids to force him to swallow the aspirin and rat poison. He kept quiet at the hospital because he believed his children’s lives were in danger. This is murder.

IOC report: Funding is Chicago’s problem

Once the IOC narrowed the field from applicant cities to “candidate” cities, it was assumed that all the finalists were capable of staging the Games, and Wednesday’s evaluation confirmed that.

In its summary of the Chicago bid, the report also noted that the transport plan includes factors that could be a “major challenge.” It called the Chicago budget “ambitious but achievable,” but the city needs an “extensive sponsorship program” to make it work. The Olympic Village plan was described as a potentially “special experience for the athletes,” but the IOC report noted that no full financing guarantee for its construction was provided when the commission visited in early April. Another risk highlighted for Chicago’s bid was the planned use of many temporary venues.

The report notes that such structures may place a greater financial burden on the Olympic organizing committee because they are not paid for and managed by the city in the same way that permanent structures would be.

But the IOC also espouses a somewhat contradictory idea that host cities should not build expensive, permanent venues that will be underused, costly-to-maintain white elephants.

In its summary of the Chicago bid, the report said there was increased risk in Chicago because of an “emphasis on major temporary or scaled-down venues.”

That includes the Olympic Stadium, which would be a temporary, 80,000-seat structure.

Chicago bid officials have insisted their venue plan not only is financially responsible but could be a model for future Olympic host cities. Chicago 2016’s sports and venue chief Doug Arnot and Ryan said Wednesday that the risk that temporary venues present to the organizing committee budget is outweighed by the savings of not leaving behind venues the city doesn’t need or want.

Reader comment:

Transportation system a problem? I guess everyone has forgotten when just a year or so ago the state of Illinois and State Taxpayers had to bail out the chicago transit system. Remember that crisis? If the state hadn’t stepped in and paid to help Chicago run it’s system the whole thing was supposed to stop. Now, how can you just completely forget about that and say that Chicago’s transit system is fine and will work fine for the Olympics? Anyone else think this is fishy? Sounds like an impending bailout in the works to me.

Also, if the Olympics are such a good idea and chicago has such a strong bid, except for the funding problems, then why are the olympic organizers spending money on blanket ads just to increase public support? Sounds like desperation or a waste of money or both. Is this an example of how the olympics will be managed too? Spending money they don’t have to tell all of us what a good time we are having and nevermind who’s paying. The games have already begun.

Welch said Kelly lived with Flores at her condo in the Park Millennium building in the 200 block of North Columbus Drive....

Flores, 30, whose driver’s license lists her by her married name, Flores-Buhelos, came to public attention more than a decade ago as a star basketball player at Whitney Young High School. She combined athletic ability with skill and played a key role on the 1995 city championship team.

The 5-foot-8-inch guard went on to play at Northwestern University....

She is a manager at a Milwaukee Avenue club, Gillespie said. State records list her as a “manager/partner” at the VLive club, 2047 N. Milwaukee.

“She’s a very lovely, a very honest woman,’’ he said.

I haven’t yet come across anything that
convinces me he was going to talk. He
seems to have been adamantly refusing
to do that.

Fitzie just kept sticking the knife in
deeper .. indicted him extra times for
added pressure .. but he was ordered
to go to jail this coming Friday. I
presume things would’ve been different
if he had agreed to squeal.

“Just days before he died of an apparent overdose, a defiant Christopher Kelly was resolved to fight a corruption trial he faced, if only to thumb his nose at federal authorities.

Former Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s fund-raiser and adviser suddenly flip-flopped, however, after faced with another point of pressure. On the eve of trial, the government asked a judge to revoke Kelly’s bond, the Chicago Sun-Times has learned.

“The motion pushed him over the edge,” leading him to plead guilty, said a confidant, who asked not to be named. The confidant, however, did not blame the government for the beleaguered Kelly’s apparent overdose four days later.

Kelly, who was steadfast that he’d never cooperate with prosecutors — even after agreeing to surrender to jail this Friday — had faced numerous stresses: he was indicted three separate times; he was separated from his wife; his house was in foreclosure, and he had long battled gambling and alcohol addictions.

And, his good buddy, Michael Allen, was so concerned about him that he left the hospital with Kelly’s keys. He was stopped from taking the Escalade. Kelly’s cell phone and the keys are still missing, AFAIK.
