Republican Rep. Joe Wilson shouted "Lie! You lie," at President Barack Obama during Wednesday's address to a joint session of Congress, earning repudiations from his own party and from Democrats.
Wilson took exception to a passage in Obama's speech on health care in which the president said illegal immigrants would not get health insurance coverage under the overhaul.
"There are also those who claim that our reform effort will insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false -- the reforms I'm proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally," Obama said.
Wilson answered the comment with his outburst, loud enough to be picked up on television and in such an unusually disruptive fashion as to merit reprimands from across the political spectrum.
House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn, a fellow South Carolinian, said Wilson's heckling was more damaging to South Carolina's reputation than the exploits of Republican Gov. Mark Sanford, who admitted to having an extramarital affair with an Argentinian woman.
"I thought he [the governor] had embarrassed us as much as we could be embarrassed. But to have a congressman use the floor of the House of Representatives in a joint session to insult the president the way Joe Wilson did is as embarrassing as anything anyone could think of," Clyburn said. "Our state can do without this."
Arizona Sen. John McCain, the 2008 Republican presidential nominee and a fellow veteran, denounced the comment as "totally disrespectful and called on Wilson to "apologize immediately" during a post-speech interview on CNN.

What in the hell is wrong with Republicans? Why in the hell are they apologizing? This is political stupidity. Wilson will receive a donation of $100 dollars from me tomorrow even though he appologized and I will not support anyone who rushed to attack him and defend this third world socialist dictator. Wilson should have said in response, while my outburst was harsh there is no quieting the voice of liberty when confronting the threat of tyranny. We have politely slouching towards socialism and dictatorship. We need to stop bowing and saying "S'il vous plaît" to tyrants. This man was not rude, he was a leader for once in a world full of soft accommodating men. I really hate Republicans sometimes. I hate being associated with those who aspire to weakness on the brink of victory. Do these people not remember the likes of Patrick Henry or are they also embarrassed of the harshness of our founders and those who shed blood to create this nation only to see the liberty for which they fought trickle away through the fingers of men not strong enough to grasp it.

Send Joe a couple of bucks. That will speak more loudly than anything else these libtards can do. If we are selective in where we open our wallets, those money hungry congress critters will quickly catch on.
I don’t wish to cast any aspersions on Joe Wilson, but if his campaign gets money for this, the rest of them will jump on this like when you feed squirrels in the park.

Yeah, but decorum required the apology whether you agree with it or not...the real message here is the difference in class.
Congressman Joe Wilson recognized that his conduct was improper and immediately gave a genuine apology, unlike the non-apology apologies that Democrats always...always...give, e.g. Van Jones's non apology.
Notice also that when Democrats jeered and booed President Bush during his 2005 State of the Union Address, no apologies ensued.
Democrats...the essence of hypocrisy.

McCain did NOT demand that Obama apologize for calling his running mate a liar.
