Wilson apologizes: 'I let my emotions get the best of me'
CNN ^ | September 9, 2009 | CNN

“This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the President’s remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill. While I disagree with the President’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility.”

The whole Republican party should have stood up half way thru this liar’s speech and called him a liar and walked out.

I personally like the way the prime minister has to defend himself in the British parliment. They have serious debate, and Obama wouldn’t last ten minutes in that environment.

Given that the mainstream media wing of the Democrat Party probably will not report the facts about the illegal immigration benefits under the Dems' health care bills, at some point perhaps the Republicans will be doing what was depicted in the scene in "Animal House" where there is a disciplinary hearing for Otter.

He doesn’t apologize for calling him on the lie. He apologizes for being uncivil under the circumstance. I think most would agree it was inappropriate, but still the point was made. Obama is a liar.

He screwed up, because now all that is going to be talked about is the Republican’s lack of civility, rather than the inane speech or the bad healthcare proposal.

So, what's new? LOL

I’m well aware of Medea and her “crew” but this was heard ‘round the country. He called him out. I applaud his bravery. He’s gonna catch hell tomorrow.

But, he is a liar!

Which is the lie: 47 million uninsured or 30 million uninsured?

Some people are mad that he apologized, but I don’t fault him for that. As he said in his statement, he was overcome with emotions when he said it, and we all know what that feels like because we’ve been feeling the same thing for months now. However, like other people have mentioned, it still doesn’t change the fact that this is what is getting the headlines and not Obama. This is what is pissing off the libs is that that one statement in a moment of emotion has completely shattered what was supposed to be Obummer’s night.

Are you talking with your hearth or with your brain?

There are a lot of things at stake here, and letting his, or our, emotions get the best of us is not the way to get things done.

Why is it appropriate to leap to your feet and applaud wildly for Democrats, but its inappropriate for Republicans to express disapproval?

Yeah, it would help if our side would stop providing ammunition to the other side.

He should know better.

FROM TRANSCRIPT

OBAMA: Still, given all the misinformation that's been spread over the past few months, I realize -- I realize that many Americans have grown nervous about reform. So tonight, I want to address some of the key controversies that are still out there.

Some of people's concerns have grown out of bogus claims spread by those whose only agenda is to kill reform at any cost. The best example is the claim, made not just by radio and cable talk show hosts, but by prominent politicians that we plan to set up panels of bureaucrats with the power to kill off senior citizens.

Now, such a charge would be laughable if it weren't so cynical and irresponsible. It is a lie plain and simple.

(APPLAUSE)

OBAMA: Now...

(APPLAUSE)

Now, there are also those who claim that our reform efforts would insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false. The reforms -- the reforms I'm proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally.

(UNKNOWN): That's a lie.

Because when you’re debating someone, rule number one is to keep your cool. If you lose your temper you lose the audience. It may have felt good to yell something, but it made our side of the debate look bad, and that doesn’t help us to persuade people. He didn’t say anything that wasn’t true. But persuasion is about more than yelling at the top of one’s lung. He screwed up, because now all that is going to be talked about is the Republican’s lack of civility, rather than the inane speech or the bad healthcare proposal.

I bet you voted for McCain in the primaries. JESUS, CAN OUR PARTY GROW A PAIR? EVER!?

“On CNN’s Larry King, Senator John McCain said Wilson’s outburst was totally disrespectful and that Rep. Wilson should apologize immediately.”

Get bent McCain. I’m damned tired of your grovelling to the media and jamming knives in the back of Conservatives at every opportunity. Why don’t you climb further up Larry’s butt while your at it.

"This is what is pissing off the libs is that that one statement in a moment of emotion has completely shattered what was supposed to be Obummer’s night."

The good part is that talk radio & conservative blogs will now go a little further & ask "Is it true that Obama lied?"

We all know what the answer to that is!!!

Well, He is a statesman expected to act in a certain way during a congressional address such as this. What he did is not expected at all. I don't think it was minimal. Will tommorrow's lead be Wilson or Obama?
