President Barack Obama’s address to Congress this evening was moving along fairly smoothly until he pledged that there was nothing in the legislation that would provide health care to the millions of illegal immigrants residing in the nation.
A cry of “You lie!” was audible from the Republican side of the aisle. The Associated Press reports that the heckler was South Carolina Republican Rep. Joe Wilson.
“It’s not true,” the president responded to the outburst, while House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, seated behind the president, offered her mother-of-five glare towards the Republican side of the chamber. First Lady Michelle Obama was seen shaking her head from side to side.
While lawmakers may have become accustomed to that kind of language during the contentious town hall meetings in August, Wilson’s outburst was uncommon for a joint session of Congress, where decorum usually reigns.
A spokesman for Wilson did not immediately return a request for comment.

I’m noticing that the AP isn’t saying why Joe WIlson shouted “You Lie!”.....just that he did.

I'll tell you why you're wrong. a liar needs to be confronted when he blatantly commits it. Did the Ø not receive numerous standing ovations in support of his lies? People are hungry for a courageous voice that will stand up to all this bilge. I think we'll find the effect of this outburst to be refreshing.

I know one thing, Drudge has been consistently pro-life - and God bless him for that as not many in media hold that position.
Good point! I do wish someone had called him out when he basically threatened anyone who didn’t get health care because they were acting “unresponsibly.” I don’t remember the exact wording, but to paraphrase, he basically said, “We, the government, knows what’s good for you, and you should know what’s good for you, too. There’s cheap health care that we’ve provided. Why aren’t you taking advantage of it??? We’re taking it out of taxpayers’ pockets. If you don’t act responsibly, there will be consequences.” Not exact words, but the meaning is there. Sorry, but the government should NEVER have that much power over the individual.
I agree. Obama was in the wrong to call Sarah a liar in that setting. So lacking in civility. :-D

Why are you ashamed of a man who spoke the unvarnished truth? It's about time somebody called the bag-of-hot-air currently occupying the White House for what he tells. With those two words Wilson cut through all the platitudes. He's the only man who had the courage to speak the truth. Never be ashamed of the truth.
Well, maybe he will GET the forum because of his outburst. I sure hope that winds up being the case, but I doubt it will happen.
The liberal media will not give him the opportunity to state his case. Fox may, and I hope they do. It would be nice to hear him say that he just couldn’t control himself any longer and didn’t mean to be disrespectful...that he just had enough.
If it leads to this guy getting a bigger forum, then maybe he’s crazy like a fox. I doubt that the media is going to let him have the spotlight other than his outburst, and it just doesn’t look good.

I disagree. IN NORMAL circumstances I would agree. But we are talking about 0bama here. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! 0bama cited that certain people were liars. Never before has a POTUS given such a partisan hacked speech full of lies.
It is simple, just read the effing part of the bill in public, that shows Obama is lying. How difficult is that?
