Legislation introduced to ban 'czars' By Eric Zimmermann - 09/09/09 10:41 AM ET
House Republicans have introduced legislation to stop the proliferation of so-called "czars".
Introduced by Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.), the "Czar Accountability and Reform Act," which you can read here, would prevent funding for any office headed by an "individual who has been inappropriately appointed to such position...without the advice and consent of the Senate."
The controversy over appointed czars flared up in recent weeks when Republicans took aim at Van Jones, Obama's "Green Jobs Czar," who had made a number of controversial statements before being appointed to his position. Jones resigned over the weekend.
Kingston's legislation has gathered 50 co-sponsors so far, all Republicans.
The bill complements a request by Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.) to have all czars testify before Congress about their responsibilities.
And maybe the Tea Partys can use this as their song. Ever hear of the “Bonnie Blue Flag”. Washington best be careful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjOIFGrYtaE&feature=related
Part-time House and Senate."
The Republicans should start getting it around to their Democrat buddies that Obama stands a good chance of losing to a Republican Conservative and that if this is not done it will be “Katy bar the door!” when a Conservative takes the desk in the White House. Czars can be easily changed to Patriots as a Conservative POTUS surrounds “herself” with Conservative minded helpmates. Turnabout being fair play will end up being great fun as we watch the liberals twirling around with heads spinning like the Exorcist!!
Love your title but aren’t we sick of the C.R.A.P. already in Washington?
This is important to keep the executive branch from usurping power from the legislative branch.
Odooma is side stepping the confirmation process. Odooma is creating executive jobs without vetting and confirmation process. People like Van Jones would never pass the sniff test of a Senate confirmation process.
We have to keep the Van Jones proteges from ever having control on budgets and policy FOREVER!
Another Czar is deciding their salaries!
Don’t we have a Constitution for this?
[Now where did we put that thing? It’s around here some place.....]
Van Jones was reportedly going to have access to something like $15 billion to freely administer on his generic “green jobs” program.
Green jobs are ghost jobs, shadowy figures, like “change” they can be whatever people perceive that feels good.
Unconfirmed people administering public money is like giving Mickey Mouse the key to the bank.
One question - why do we need this legislation?
Congress could, if it chose, simply deny finding to the Executive branch for these positions without the political grandstanding. All they are doing is giving the executive a spec sheet through which their lawyers can look for loopholes or change ‘job descriptions’ to fit the bill.
are they actually called czars on their paystubs ???
I think GWB started this Czar thing didn’t he? Why on earth would a repulican choose the term Czar?
“Republicans” took aim at NOBODY. They were too busy hiding under their desks or selling out the American people by supporting democrat legislation. Glenn Beck, talk radio and the internet exposed and eventually brought down Hussein’s communist, racist thug “Green Czar.”
we need to identify the next Van Jones from amongst the czars and start circulating the tapes
They did the same thing with the Death Care debate. If it weren't for the American people representing themselves, we'd have had a complete fascist Death Care plan rammed down our throats months ago. All our liberties would have been gone.
Great! I was wondering how long it would take to challenge this illegal government. Keep those cards and letters flowing to your representatives.
And it’s DOA.
Have a nice day. :)

Do you have a link for that? The most current info I can find shows that H.R. 3226 (Czar Accountability and Reform (CZAR) Act of 2009) was introduced in July 15, has 50+ sponsors and has been referred to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
I'd like to call my Rep and ask her to support H.R. 3226, but I don't want to bother her if the legislation has already been killed. Where can I find that info?
ban all of them. Even the drug czar should have been approved by the senate.
