I saw his statement on Fox news. He was resigning because of the controversy, not because he did anything wrong. It's all those hateful white racist rightwingers, ya know.
I finally found information on why wright was in washington. I still believe he had a meeting with jones.. ;-)

The former pastor is in Washington, only a few miles from the White House. The controversial minister is preaching this week at the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Arlington, Va.
The mainstream media will probably show distant photos of our large rally and say that we are the group in support of Obama.
Thank goodness, Glenn Beck and FoxNews plan to cover out rally.

The left is spreading some terrible Internet rumors on Glenn Beck. I thought he should be worried physically, but evidently he is going to get the Sarah Palin and Clarence Thomas treatment.
You can see why conservatives are reluctant to come out against these people, but if the little people like you, me and the rest of the Freepers, and teaparty protesters keep it up, we have a chance to stop their radical agenda.
We have to be committed to exposing the truth to our friends and others not paying attention.
If they can manipulate to associate Van Jone’s firing with the lie that reason for his removal is calling Republicans bad names, they can then go after anyone who is calling Obama a bad name.
