I've noted in the past the one big flaw in the global-warming theory: No one knows what the climate will be in the future.
For various reasons, including a recent absence of sun spots, we could be entering a cooling trend. In that case, a bit of human-induced global warming would be a good thing.
So I was amused when Assemblyman Mike Carroll of Morris County sent me a link to this New York Times article reporting that anthropogenic global warming may have the effect of preventing another ice age.
"In the very long term, the ability to artificially warm the climate, particularly the Arctic, could be seen as a boon as the planet's shifting orientation to the Sun enters a phase that could initiate the next ice age."
That article repeats all of the usual warnings about the short-term effects of anthropogenic global warming.
But what if we faced the threat of significant global cooling in the near future? Read this article quoting Matt Penn of the National Solar Observatory on the decline of sunspots.
"Sunspot magnetic fields are dropping by about 50 gauss per year," says Penn. "If we extrapolate this trend into the future, sunspots could completely vanish around the year 2015."
Historically, a lack of sunspots has led to global cooling. In that event, anthropogenic global warming would not be a bad thing. It would be a very good thing - unless you relish the prospect of year-round winter here in Jersey.
I covered that topic in this prior post on the unpredictability of climate. In it, I ran some quotes from my interview with Australia astrophysicist Phil Chapman. Here's an excerpt:
Chapman recently achieved some fame, or notoriety, when he authored an article for an Australian newspaper headlined "Sorry to Ruin the Fun, but..."

But....but....how can that be??? Algore and all his global warming zombies swear that an enormous ball of gas burning at millions of degrees couldn't possibly have any effect on how warm it gets here on earth. It's all evil humans and their evil light bulbs and SUV's!!!!
Some people's kids....
Global warming is big business now, and we’re crafting energy policy around it. Gore, obama, etc., will never admit their error.
You're right. They won't admit they are wrong. They will just slowly morph what they said into something different. We've already seen them starting to back off the term "global warming" in favor of "global climate change" (as if the climate never changed prior to the Industrial Age).
These idiots need to be taken down fast and hard. They should be mocked and ridiculed in the public square continuously until they are afraid to show their faces in public.
A news story in my local paper the other day announced that a study had provided more evidence of man-made global warming by finding the following: after thousands of years of cooling, arctic temps had risen some fraction of a degree over the past century.
And I just had to laugh...it’s stupid on so many levels!
Read Crichton’s “State of Fear.”
Yes and according to the hoaxers the fact that other planets in our solar system experienced the same warming trend as Earth did is meaningless.
Anyone who believes in man made global warming is not too bright.
Thanks for the link.
Using CO2 to raise the Earth’s temperature is akin to increasing the water temperature of a tub with an eyedropper of hot water. Not very real.
There is negative feedback in the atmosphere, not positive and therefore the problem heals itself rather than compounds. The tipping point is not occurring. Their predictions are never accurate but environmentalists are like spoiled children, never held accountable for their tantrums, nor their lies.
You’re welcome.
“Anyone who believes in man made global warming is not too bright.”
I disagree.
Anyone who could come up with a ‘Global Warming’ and ‘Carbon Credits’ scam to generate billions and billions of dollars for themselves and their ‘friends’ is definitely not dumb.
Deceitful, but not stupid.
I agree. I doubt that the people who came up with the scam are smart. I just think they don’t believe their own scam. They have people like Algore fooled, but, like the shell game dealer, they know the pea isn’t under any of the shells.
I would like to circulate a petition calling upon the governments of the world to reduce atmospheric carbon dioxide to zero within twenty years. It would be interesting to see how many people would sign it.
You could ask these fellows.
thanks for the ping
