White House green jobs adviser Van Jones' past associations and remarks are stirring controversy at a time when the Obama administration is trying to keep controversy at a minimum.
President Obama's "green jobs" adviser could become a mounting liability for the Obama administration, as the latest revelation about Van Jones shows his belief that the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks may have been an inside job.
Jones joined the "9/11 truther" movement by signing a statement in 2004 calling for then-New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer and others to launch an investigation into evidence that suggests "people within the current administration may indeed have deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen, perhaps as a pretext for war."
The statement asked a series of critical questions hinting at Bush administration involvement in the attacks and called for "deeper inquiry." It was also signed by former Rep. Cynthia McKinney and Code Pink co-founder Jodie Evans.
The discovery comes after Jones had to apologize Wednesday night for "offensive words" he uttered in February when he called Republicans "assholes." He said the remarks "do not reflect the views of this administration" and its bipartisan aims.
But such statements just scratch the surface of Jones' past commentary.

Stop lying you worthless piece of pig excrement.
They look green on the outside but they are hardcore commie/marxist RED on the inside.
His boss, who is aware of his present, is the problem.
It would be pure speculation. But it's not crazy to suggest a Presidential appointee (I can't believe I'm saying that about this guy in the United States of America) would have the President's ear on a number of issues. The One chose him for his knowledge.
He can spit out the names of each of these in 4 seconds. I can't, can you?
I'm not a huge fan, cause I don't watch TV much, but I understand he brought this clown's resume to the forefront, for which he deserves out thanks.
No, though his associations have been exposed here, as far back as his Senate run, they're still not taken seriously by the media.
Hey Van, #igger isn’t skin color it’s attitude and you’re a communist #igger.
Those of us here on Free Republic knew the “type” of people Obummer hung out with. We tried to tell others and they refused to listen.
The United States has made a very expensive and hopefully not irreversible mistake by electing this Marxist.
Well if Al Gore and Leonaro DiCaprio like him, I guess he must be "mainstream."
I like that cartoon, but there’s a bit of an error in it.
Obama is showing disgust while digging into the toilet for his picks. But, since Obama came from the same toilet, his face should be showing a lot of glee.
The biggest question of all is:
Where the heck was the Secret Service, CIA or FBI in all of this?
As Glenn Beck outlined tonight. THEY SHOULD HAVE WARNED 0.
But, we don’t know if they did or did not. Where the hell are they now? Whose side are the working?
The CIA is out of the loop. I disagree on the Secret Service, their job is to protect the President. The FBI, my understanding it's their responsibility to do the background checks. But there are no background checks for Obama's many Commisars, so they're not likely involved. Even in an appointment going to the Senate, their role is investigation. If President Obama want's to appoint a Communist 9/11 truther with an arrest record, it's up to the Senate to stop him. Which is why Obama, who knows full well who these people are, avoids Constitutional requirements.
You nailed my point here: “ I disagree on the Secret Service, their job is to protect the President. “
Would not the Secret Service WANT to protect a President from a self professed communist and someone who has openly stated that he is working to destroy the America that we all know and cherish.
Or perhaps that just protect and not vette.
