The nitwits at the dailykos are having a meltdown over this with posts like: “I can’t believe we’re losing the public option to people afraid we’ll wind up like the Soviet Union. Public Option should have been an easy sell to middle class republicans. Instead we’re having a fight over irrational paranoid teabagger fantasies. And they’re winng the healthcare debate!”

It is indeed simple. The people who really don’t need to be there won’t be there. They’ll be at Rite-Aid or CVS buying cough medicine, Tylenol and Band-Aids, which is what they should be doing instead of clogging up the ERs with minor affliction visits that generate ridiculously high bills that we cover because they can’t or won’t pay. A $100 fee will keep them out and put an end to frivolous use of the ERs.
Don't lose heart. Polls are showing that any healthcare bill lacking the public (government) option loses BIG support among DemocRats.

I know...we'd all like to bitch and moan about "how President Obama isn't being specific enough....blah, blah, blah..." and all the other criticisms.
Frankly, I think he knows exactly what he is doing..and he's doing it exactly right. Give the ball to Congress. Let them bitch and moan, hammer and smooth out; then let the unions, the factions, the public all make their wishes known...and I honestly think the end product is going to have it all.
President Obama KNOWS he is going to take a popularity hit on this one. The repukes play hard and they play dirty. President Obama is NO FOOL, unlike the last dink we had sleeping in the White House for EIGHT F*CKING YEARS!
