He came to be known as a stalwart proponent of what is currently being called a liberal or even progressive social agenda. However his change of position on the fundamental human right, the right to life, like others now identified with those labels including Rev. Jesse Jackson, changed entirely. In fact, with Kennedy's change the entire content of the meaning of those political labels seems to have changed. Senator Kennedy began his political career as a strong defender of the rights of children in the womb. For example, in 1971, Senator Kennedy described his then strongly Pro-Life position in these words:
"While the deep concern of a woman bearing an unwanted child merits consideration and sympathy, it is my personal feeling that the legalization of abortion on demand is not in accordance with the value which our civilization places on human life. Wanted or unwanted, I believe that human life, even at its earliest stages, has certain rights which must be recognized -- the right to be born, the right to love, the right to grown old.
"I share the confidence of those who feel that America is working to care for its unwanted as well as wanted children, protecting particularly those who cannot protect themselves. I also share the opinions of those who do not accept abortion as a response to our society's problems -- an inadequate welfare system, unsatisfactory job training programs, and insufficient financial support for all its citizens.
"When history looks back to this era it should recognize this generation as one which cared about human beings enough to halt the practice of war, to provide a decent living for every family and to fulfill its responsibility to its children from the very moment of conception."

Looks like he won’t be naming his successor.
That is how I will remember Jabba the Kennedy.....
But the name of the wicked will rot." (Proverbs 10:7)
As a practicing Catholic and hard working American with morals and standards....I have nothing to say. The good Lord will be saying it directly to Ted.
My grand Aunt Agnes (born 1894) was a guest in the Chappaquitc (sp) the night when the drunk Teddy left Mary Jo to drown. Her key observation was how the Inn was taken over by guys in suits.
One more thing...I will not watch one moment of tribute on TV for this man. I would rather clip my toenails and pick up dog poop in the yard.
I'd go and take a look, but really don't feel like throwing up this morning.
What is it? The 4th time?
A good long time in purgation wouldn't be unwarranted, however.
Did you hear Ted Kennedy’s last words?
“Get me that crypt above Marilyn”
Normally I would complain, but good news like this just can’t be published enough.
Ole Kennedy led a lot of Catholics into confusion and non-belief in the baby boomer generation. There are plenty in power to carry on his torch.
Teddy’s funeral will be the Wellstone Memorial cubed and on steriods.
Dante might have Teddy drowning in Chappaquidick, over and over and over and over again, for eternity.
As I told my wife this morning - I hope Eunice introduces him to Mary Jo before they kick him out.
He was about as “Catholic” as a Klansman is Christian!
That’s exactly right. None of his money, none of his bloviating, none of his longevity in the US Senate mean one thing right now as he has met his Maker.
Hell is so horrible, I do not wish it on anyone. So, even for Teddy Kennedy, I hope he had repented of his sins and received the forgiveness and cleansing and new life that only Jesus Christ can bring. (yes I know there will be many who disagree for many reasons).
And I too express condolences to those who loved Senator Kennedy - his family.
“Watch for Democrats to name any health care legislation after him and try to push it through as lets get it done for Teddy.”

The best and pithy response to them is: “This is not about Teddy, it is about AMERICA!”
Yes, you are right he is headed THERE!....

But as he is judged he will hopefully be viewed by those he wronged as part of his punishment. To show our respect, fly the American Flag at FULL STAFF, he deserves it for the holiday he has brought.
I am amazed. I said what I felt and wasn’t banished, then I saw all the posts of great people who feel the same. Once again, may God Bless America as He has done today. Thank you Lord.
