Latest in Stimulus: 'Cash for Refrigerators' (They CAN'T be serious!!!)
Yahoo! News ^

A $300 million cash-for-clunkers-type federal program to boost sales of energy-efficient home appliances provides a glimmer of hope for beleaguered makers of washing machines and dishwashers, but it's probably not enough to lift companies such as Whirlpool (NYSE:WHR - News) and Electrolux out of the worst down cycle in the sector's history.

Beginning late this fall, the program authorizes rebates of $50 to $200 for purchases of high-efficiency household appliances. The money is part of the broader economic stimulus bill passed earlier this year. Program details will vary by state, and the Energy Dept. has set a deadline of Oct. 15 for states to file formal applications. The Energy Dept. expects the bulk of the $300 million to be awarded by the end of November. (Unlike the clunkers auto program, consumers won't have to trade in their old appliances.)

Since I am part of Taxpayer A might as well get my new stove as part of Taxpayer B. Guess I will delay purchase of a stove now until I get details.

This is just so bizarre that I have a hard time believing it is real.

Great!

Y’all can buy me a new fridge for my garage...that old one’s a real clunker, needs to be defrosted every few months, etc.

Thanks, my beer and I really appreciate it.

I’m waiting on the Dollars for Dryers and Washington’s for Washers programs.

(My clothes washer is from 1993, the dryer is an electric job from 1982 or so).

This will increase electric consumption, because nine out of ten refrigerators bought because of the rebate represents an old, but functional, refrigerator moved out to the garage. The desire for a Beer Fridge is deeply ingrained in the American Male psyche.

I buy a new fridge,
And now I have two fridges.
His and hers, Baby!

Gridlock — what a beautiful word. We have to stay focus, elect some good fiscal conservative Republicans and make sure it happens — hard work, money, and most important prayers that we have the strength and determination to make it happen.
