Since I am part of Taxpayer A might as well get my new stove as part of Taxpayer B. Guess I will delay purchase of a stove now until I get details.

I’m waiting on the Dollars for Dryers and Washington’s for Washers programs.

(My clothes washer is from 1993, the dryer is an electric job from 1982 or so).

Program details will vary by state, and the Energy Dept. has set a deadline of Oct. 15 for states to file formal applications. The Energy Dept. expects the bulk of the $300 million to be awarded by the end of November. (Unlike the clunkers auto program, consumers won't have to trade in their old appliances.)

This will increase electric consumption, because nine out of ten refrigerators bought because of the rebate represents an old, but functional, refrigerator moved out to the garage. The desire for a Beer Fridge is deeply ingrained in the American Male psyche.
