As supporters drift from “strong” to “somewhat”, they are less likely to defend him in conversation, making it safer for conservatives to talk about him without somebody having a screaming fit.

It will start to get interesting when his support degrades further. Blacks are likely to take any criticism of Obama personally, and get very defensive.

Good points. Interesting point about black support. I think it is very personal to many African Americans. I look forward to the day when that voting block is not ubiquitous. It doesn’t have to be that way - and would be better for them if it weren’t, imho. The sooner African Americans realize that, the better.

I could go on and on about the difference between African Americans and Africans, as I worked with Africans directly for 4 years. But what’s most enlightening, is to hear Africans talk about African Americans - their attitudinal issues. I’m not saying they’ve had an easy road; I am talking frankly about what may be best for that community.
