U.S. Rep. Steve Scalise, R-Jefferson, used a Thursday evening telephone conference with constituents to continue his assault on President Barack Obama and congressional Democrats for their plans to overhaul the American health insurance system.
Scalise, serving his first full-term representing the conservative 1st Congressional District, framed the debate with familiar Republican rhetoric.
In his opening, Scalise said he wants to expand access to care and lower costs. But he said House Resolution 3200, a Democratic bill Scalise opposed when it cleared the House Energy and Commerce Committee before the August recess, would mean a "government takeover of health care."

Attaboy, Steve!
Good for him. Chet “The Chicken” Edwards (D-TX) had his “telephonic town-hall” yesterday evening and claimed he reached 9,000 of his Dist. 17 constituents. The TV report was priceless....this yellow Aggie sitting by himself at a little table in an empty room with a phone....some “representative.”
That article is just oozing with bias against the Congressman. I cannot believe all the loaded phrases and words used.
Let's say these media outlets from the old U.S.S.R. were not the most objective.
Attaboy, Steve!
Ditto.
He is one of the few I trust in Washington and in Louisiana.
Oh kittymyrib...so glad he’s no longer our rep and is now yours. In the AF we would have called him “chicken poop”. I didn’t see him on tv, did they show him? How long was his “telephonic town-hall”? To reach 9,000 by “telephonic question and answer” he must have been on the phone all afternoon and night. I can just picture him, sitting in a tiny room, before a tiny table, sitting on a high chair, doing his “telephonic town hall”.
kittymyrib, will you be attending chicken edwards town hall on the 29th? We won’t be here, but please post what happened. I’ve heard, NO SIGNS, NO RECORDING DEVICES, NO TELEPHONES, NO SPONTANEOUS QUESTIONS.
