Town Hall Anger Headed to Washington
US News ^ | August 17, 2009

Posted on 08/18/2009 8:22:38 AM PDT by NCjim

The angry Americans expressing themselves at lawmaker town halls around the country are heading to Washington. A planned September 12 taxpayer march on Washington, initially focused on taxes and corporate bailouts, is gaining momentum from the recent town halls where the administration's healthcare proposal has been hit for being too big and expensive. Organizers are now expecting thousands to parade on the White House and Congress to demand that Washington keep taxes low. Initially a follow-up to the springtime tea parties, the Saturday "Taxpayer March On D.C." is bringing together "tea party patriots, 'Resistnet,' FreedomWorks, Campaign for Liberty, and a host of other limited-government groups to storm the Capitol," organizers say. A conservative organizer tells Whispers that "a lot of unhappy taxpayers are busing in from as far away as 700 miles" and that much of the crowd will include seniors worried about healthcare and personal finances.

On the organizing site for the march, http://912dc.org, buses are being chartered and hotel deals are being offered to those coming to Washington.

The national tea party will come right as Congress is returning to Washington to renew negotiations over the energy bill, healthcare reform, and multiple appropriations bills to fund the government. Some organizers are hopeful that enough people participate to send Congress a signal before voting on those proposals begins.

After all the crap weasel tricks the Democrats have pulled with their stacked town hall meetings, after all the false statements by the Democrats about what is or isn’t in HR 3200, I hope the people in Washington D.C. on 9/12 will give them a message so loud and clear we will feel the ground shaking in California.

CNN this morning was carrying wall to wall coverage/stories about the nasty reception pols were getting at town hall meetings across the country. They just don't get it and won't let it go.

What amazes me is that they are still trumpeting the Dem Party line by using as their standard caption; "Conservatives vent anger at town hall meetings."

Sorry, but I've seen video of a lot of pissed off Dems at these meetings as well. But CNN refuses to admit that it can't be anything except a bunch of Conservative Rushbots doing all the yelling.

I’m sure that the media will cover the event. Ya think?

People in Washington need to remember this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyJTIXKI1mA&feature=related

I really want to go but just can’t afford it. The Ft. Worth Tea Party event on 9/12 will have to suffice. Judge Napolitano is supposed to speak.

“Thousands” isn’t going to do it, there are protests every week in Washington with “thousands”.

They need at least 100k, or it will be painted as a failure in the MSM...if they cover it at all.

I really don't know if the media will put their lattes down for a few moments and cover real news.

Another poster came up with an intriguing idea. Why should we wait for the Democrats to have, or not have, town hall meetings? Have our own and draw up resolutions and garner our OWN publicity.

Finally!

Take the protests about this administration straight to the horse’s ass uh I mean mouth.

Protest in front of the Congress of the United States.

Protest in front of the White House.

And keep it up until these jerks get the message that we are not going to stand for the direction they are moving the country and we want our country back because this is not the kind of changes the American people want.

Agreed. With or without politicians, Town Hall meetings should continue. Record the meetings and send the recordings to Washington. Flood them with the recordings. The Tea Partys could organize this.

http://ednews.org/articles/obama-care-passed-in-stimulus-bill-more-treachery-in-sept-.html

“The first part of The Obama Health Care Plan was buried in The Stimulus Bill which was signed into law by the President in February. It is the second part of The Health Care Plan which is now being debated in Congress.”

When I was working out at LA Fitness this morning, I saw CNN on the TV’s with the story “Obama’s Health Care Supporters Fight Back!”

There was no sound, but they showed lots of happy people waving American flags.

The next story they had was “Preaching to the Choir: Angry Conservatives Vent at Town Hall Meetings”. Again, I couldn’t hear the words, but the images said everything about media bias

There was a thread a few days ago about a group of Citizens setting up a town hall meeting on their own and inviting their Rep. to attend. The Rep had been refusing to have town hall meetings.

I do not remember where this was.

Then in another area where the Dem. Rep. refused to have a town hall his Republican challenger set up and held a town hall for the constituents of the distric.

Of course US NEWS promotes the idea that everything is organized and propagated by by right-wing GROUPS. A thoroughly dishonest article from a left-wing publication. IMAGINE THAT!!!

This idea needs to catch on, and keep going through the 2010 elections. Town hall meetings with genuine debating sides and judges to show which side actually wins the debate. The citizens of this nation have been generally complacent, but now there might be a huge interest in such meetings.

Also, if people want to get in on the ground floor of politics and start making a name for themselves this might be the way. Sponsor moderate, and/or organize public debates.

what is the opening line on their dusting-off the old DHS Color Threat Alert system and going to DEFCON Red for the 8th. anniversary of 9-11 (which, of couse, would require a security shut-down of traffic and public areas in DC...)?

Before you laugh...they were considering more outrageous schemes to head off Dr. King’s Poor People’s March on Washington before he was shot.
