"Lil' Monkey Doll
LOS ANGELES -- Costco has pulled a controversial doll from its shelves after customers complained it was racist.
The doll is called 'Cuddle with Me" manufactured by BrassKey Keepsakes. It's the headband that is causing the controversy. It reads "Lil' Monkey." The doll is also surrounded by stuffed monkeys. The white doll counterpart on store shelves is surrounded by pandas, with a hat that reads 'Pretty Panda.'
Mary Gustoff, CEO of Brasskey Keepsakes, said the company has apologized for the mistake, and never intended it to be racist.
"It's so unfortunate because now it's portrayed as a purposeful act to be disrespectful and that's not true. We really apologize. We don't think in that way. We don't operate in that kind of thinking. We have a really diverse, family operated company that's been around for 28 years. What would we have to gain for heaven's sake?"
Costco is also apologizing for the mistake.
Many customers complained the doll was a reference to the term "monkey" which has been used in the past by racists to denegrate African Americans.
The fact that some people think this is racist says more about the people who think it’s racist than the people who manufactured it.
Any chance those are on sail somewhere? Bwahahaha
This stuff kills me, what brain surgeon didn’t see that coming!
BUT, I find it hard to believe that some Chinese person thought up the idea for this doll, it had to be someone ‘in charge’. Don't know where BrassKey Keepsakes headquarters is located.
Coscto should pull this too!
Spell check doesn’t catch sail versus sale! How did I do that...
Re: “But - its surrounded with monkeys, on the bib and perhaps even the clothes, not just the headband.”
**********
I see that now — at first I just read the statement about the doll that claimed the headband was probably the problem. Well, pull the whole mess then if it’s such a big deal. Seems someone at Costco has their own agenda, eh?
Joe Frazier is a gorilla and it’s gonna be a Thrilla in Manilla.
I won’t put it in quotes because I’m sure I didn’t get it exact. And he had a rubber toy gorilla about a foot tall during that press conference and he kept punching it. About 10 years ago he apologized all around for how he treated Joe during the various press conferences of their bouts. He was pretty hard core.
But of course all the monkey cartoons about Bush43 were meant as compliments...
Frazier is so ugly that he should donate his face to the US Bureau of Wild Life.
Muhammad Ali
Pandas offend me.
And animal crackers too.
There’s a group of black correction and law enforcement officers called the Brass Keys. They are known to be anti white in the mold of Berry’s former church.
Gotta side with Costco on this. What a dumb idea for a doll.
"Perhaps, lol, because he was wearing a Brown-shirt Hitler outfit! "
Well it ain't just YOU!!!!
In the last 10 or so days, I've had at least 6, and I have their PREMIUM PAID EXTRA FOR ACCOUNT.
I had to go to the original on my puter, CHANGE THE NAME OF THE PIC, and then RE-UPLOAD.
Here's a good one. A Freeper posted a pic of Joseph Goebbles. I saved the pic to my puter, and then uploaded it to my Photobucket account.
Within 24hrs, it was "removed" due to the "rules".
I re-named the pic : Joey G Gibbs (after Obamassiah's press secretary Robert Gibbs)..
I've started to do it with EVERYTHING that "suddenly" has become un-uploadable with whomever has such "authority".
Try renaming the pic to something more "innocent" and see what happens. They must be using "keywords" to check for content!!!
Lol...
[Seems someone at Costco has their own agenda, eh?]
That was my thought when I looked at all of it. I think it was done deliberately and somehow got past the censures, lol. But, remember it wasn’t MADE by Costco - they just ‘picked’ it out!
Is that supposed to be Hillary?
Wow. I’m caucasian/white/honkey/whitie, whatever, and I called/call my first born, “monkey.” Dash II was/is “sweet pea.” I’m also a Pollock, and proud of it! Do Polish jokes offend me? Absolutely not.
I’m sick of this pc crap.
He came up with a ton of them, especially in the lead up to 3. The great days of boxing. I don’t think we’ll ever see an assemblage in the sport like existed then, Ali-Frazier-Foreman and a few of the other guys I can’t remember off the top of my head, all would have owned their era in any other era, instead they had to beat the snot out of each other.

Wow, sounds like PhotoBucket has an agenda, and you have a paid account!! I always wondered just HOW my private account gets VIEWS??
I believe you are right about the names. I do name most Obama things with his name or the ‘O-’.
Obviously they have word robots working so they can monitor things. I never noticed that happening with bad pictures people posted of President Bush all over the web though.
