Gov. Jim Doyle on Monday will announce that he won't seek re-election to a third term in 2010, prompting the state's first wide-open gubernatorial race since 1982.

A spokeswoman for Doyle said Saturday the governor will announce his future political plans on Monday, although she declined to provide details.

Carol Andrews, the governor's communications director, disclosed that Doyle would be making the announcement after Politico reported Doyle has told associates he won't seek re-election.

Politico, a Washington, D.C.-based Web site, cited anonymous sources.

The Journal Sentinel independently confirmed that report Saturday night.

Wisconsin will get a shall issue concealed carry bill shortly after Doyle is replaced. Doyle is fanatically anti-gun, and has vetoed shall issue concealed carry legislation twice, after it passed the legislature with 2/3 majorities. He twisted arms to prevent a veto override by having a Democrat that sponsored the legislation switch his vote.’

Wisconsin has open carry and has become more activist because of Doyle's anti-gun stance.

Doyle is a Democrat. I am hoping that Republicans have a big comeback in 2010.

Running for 3rd terms are dicey for Governors. Besides, don’t be surprised if the Messiah appoints Doyle to be on the 7th Circuit of Appeals Court.

They can shove his Festivus Pole where it belongs and kick his sorry butt out of the Governor’s mansion!

After he bought those damn Spanish trains, went against the recently voted in State Constitutional Amendment banning gay marriage by adding into the budget wholecloth parity, giving us record deficits while having taxed us into a hole through fiscal malfeasance - he leaves on the eve of destruction. As the scorpion said to the frog “It’s my nature.” As the democrat said to the taxpayer “It’s my nature.” Good riddance you big potatoe head.

I wonder who the teachers union, trial lawyers and indians (oops, native american) casino owners will put up to replace hime and keep their money flowing. Big Jim was going to lose, so now he’ll go gracefully with a big handout from the messiah.

Jim Doyle was one of the worst!!

Good. Three terms for that jerk would have been unthinkable.

I remember in 2002 an associate from Wisconsin who as I recall didn’t like Republicans asked me who would win. I said the democrat Doyle would win narrowly and she was like “aww crap”.

I guess the rat LT Governor will be their nominee. Scott Walker should be the favorite over her.

Ron Kind will be running for Governor? Good. Republicans have a state Senator in the running already.
