Pray for America
Actually lots of elderly die after a broken hip. I was shocked to learn, when my vigorous eighty-something aunt broke her hip, that only about 25% of the elderly recover completely from a fractured hip.
Chicken or egg? Did the person fall as a result of a stroke or other chronic condition, or did the trauma of the break and its medical/surgical treatment cause the body to not be able to call on enough reserve to get to a post-op healing stage.
Sadly, my aunt was not among the 25%.
