Maybe with the rumblings in the Gulf, we will get some rain this way.
Supposedly we are in the worst drought since 1895. Don’t know if I buy that, but it’s got to be true since the AP says so. ;)
I travel out through the San Antonio/Austin area and up to Dallas via I45. The fields where crops would have been and pastures are burnt up. A woman was caught just recently over in Luling stealing hay. Others are selling their cattle and those that can afford to are buying hay but it’s expensive. So the ranchers/farmers are going to have a lean to poor year it seems. I hope you get some rain.
Thanks for the ping
Now how about calling "Bill" for us so we can all stop worrying.
I was hoping you would check in with TD4 nearing your home. Sounds like a Sunday full of fun for you!
Fox News has been reporting for the last 10 minutes or so that TD4 has been upgraded to ‘Tropical Storm’....
The Weather Channel also says TD4 is now Tropical Storm Claudette...but Weather Underground still has it as TD4 and Invest 91....
I should have added a disclaimer that I consider reports by the FNC weekend weather people to be ‘unconfirmed’... ;)
Huh. Well, that’s good to know. My dad was in the pan handle andI tried to get him to bring me an avocado tree back from Florida...the ones with the big fruit like yours. He said he could only get them in the south though.
The high is still keeping rain from the coast here. I think that’s about to change though since we have rain possible this next week.
TWC says Claudette will be mainly a rain event...and should be making landfall later this afternoon.
I’m trying to remember the name of the one a few years ago that was a possible disturbance down near Miami when I left for work a couple of years ago, and was hitting here as a tropical storm by the time I got home that afternoon...and of course my son was away at college and my husband was out of town on business...
First ever tropical storm for me here. Do we have to go stand in line at the grocery store to stock up on milk and toilet paper like you do for a midwestern blizzard?
” TWC says Claudette will be mainly a rain event “
Isn’t one of the criteria for a TS rating ‘sustained winds of 45? mph’??
Agreed that it’s not quite CAT5, but that’s still enough to break things - or at least blow your lawn furniture into the neighbor’s yard... ;)
JenB, I didn’t know you were in FL now! What part?
If you’re in that part of the panhandle that will see Claudette shortly, the first thing I’d do is make sure you don’t have lawn furniture, etc. that could blow around and get broken or break something...
I don’t *think* you’ll have to worry about the power going out for an extended period with this one, but if you did, you’d rather have water than milk. :-)
Thank you NN for your dedication to this effort of keeping us informed and ready! You’re a sweetheart! :-)
Near Eglin, like most of NW Florida. Halfway between Pensacola and Panama City.
As long as it’s not too stormy for the dogs to go out tonight before bed we’re good ;-)
LOL at TWC showing people in Ft. Myers “stocking up” for TS Claudette...don’t know why TWC is in Ft. Myers, although it is a nice place to be, IMO.
At about 1:00pm it's overcast and very still. (Humid, humid!)
