A farming town in California claims that it may disappear due to the United States federal government shutting off water pumps, though the government states the actions are necessary to save several marine species.
In July 2009, action by the Federal Bureau of Reclamation to protect threatened fish stopped irrigation pumping to parts of the California Central Valley causing canals leading into Huron, California and the surrounding areas and the farms that rely on them to lose their primary irrigation source. Unemployment has reached 40% in some areas as the farms have dried up.

if we ever get control of this country again, one of the many first things that must be done is to rid this nation of the endangered species act once and for all...
its used as a political football and its application in the heart of wonderful, highly productive farm country is a major OBSCENITY.....

Recall from earlier reading says that CA supplies half of the produce in the US, and the affected water restriction area of CA affects 25% of CA’s farmland. THerefore, the water restrictions eliminate 12.5% of Americas’ produce production. TIme for the EPA to go. Do a search for UN projects: Agenda 21 and Wildlands Project.

Even to remove its deceitful use would be a great step forward. I bet these fish DO live elsewhere in the USA.

The Fed hasn’t any business in our State.
Our Governator should stand up, flip ‘em the bird, and tell them to boogar off.

They steal what rainfall or snowpack we happen to get and divert it via the aquaducts to other parts of the state. When our country starts to get hungry, just think of the delta smelt or the fairy shrimp you have saved. You can die of hunger, it helps Obamacare save money.

This is insane to shut off the water for some damn little fish. This is your water, farmers, demand it back! This seems to be this only way that the loons in Washington will listen.

The biggest mistake folks make in this argument is to accept the premise of the decision. I seriously doubt that
Hypomesus transpacificus is endangered or anywhere as "rare" as the so-called environmentalists claim.
The "greens" are quite red actually, and they are not interested in small fish, they are interested in crippling American (and in this case, Californian) businesses, so that they can ultimately control the means of production.

In a state that is on the economic bed pan, there is not excuse for the state government to give the EPA the boot out of this water restriction stunt. It is a matter of states rights. Right?

What the enviro-nazi’s won't tell you is that the Sacramento River Delta is infested with over 260 invasive non-native species they prey on the delta smelt. The most productive farmers in the world are paying the price because of the legacy of Caesar Chavez and his United Farm Workers strikes of the 60’s.

I’m always reading and hearing about the obesity epidemic, but I don’t think inducing food shortages is the right way to handle it.
The fish/shrimp whatever have been surviving alongside farmers for decades. It’s very suspicious that all of a sudden, they will go extinct if the farming continues. What if the farming is what’s sustaining them?
