The people’s business should be a matter of public record. G-mail for personal stuff.

Amd the court said the legislature is free to set such a rule. What the court said was there couldn't be a rule that punishes Sarah Palin.

Great victory for Sarah and other elected office holders who should be able to conduct official business using their personal e-mail accounts.

The “kid” is still trying on different legal defenses, as far as I know.

The most recent was that Sarah should have expected to get hacked, being so famous & all...

Which meanes, of course, that rich people shouldn’t complain about getting robbed, being so wealthy & all

With Sarah’s stalkers- nothing was personal business. They pursued her and her family and friend and associates in every activity of their lives.

Letting politicians use private mail accounts for official business is bad policy — but if there was no law against it, judges can’t create one after the fact.

"Judge rules in Palin e-mail case"

I didn't have to read this post to know that the ruling was vindication for Sarah. If it had gone the other way the headline would have been in the vein of:

"Palin E-mails Illegal, Judge Rules."

Sounds like the legislature needs to get busy and pass a law saying that ALL official business must be done on state email, letterhead, etc.

I agree it’s not the smartest thing to do, but if it’s not against the law then she didn’t break the law and McLeod wasted the taxpayers money.

My position is that government officials should have their emails limited to government business and their personal (private) emails separate. How do you draw any lines on privacy?

I don’t disagree, but that wasn’t the issue here.
