They cannot ignore the turnouts at these Townhalls and the fervor of the common citizens.
But......
They will.
They do so at their own peril, and events of monumental proportion are building that may unfold BEFORE the 2010 election.
If government ignores an energized and under-represented part of the electorate, the group will grow LOUDER & LOUDER until they ARE noticed. Normally, like we've seen with groups on the radical Left, violence is the next step. It's happened before countless times in American history, and it's unfolding again, RIGHT NOW, unless the politicians LISTEN. However, since most of these folks are legitimate TAX PAYERS, instead there may simply be a massive tax revolt, as revenues are down significantly due to late filings and flat out non-payment.
The union thugs aren't motivated, not like the REAL people showing up at these town hall meetings.
If you watched last night's episode of Law & Order Criminal Intent, you might have noticed the show's most recent dig at conservatives. More than a dig this time, really. In the storyline a father and daughter who are pro-Communist terrorists hoping to spark an American revolution against the forces of capitalism, murder some well-known businessmen (capitalist pigs) and blow stuff up. The father marvels that the police have dozens, if not hundreds, of people mobilized trying to stop two people. The daughter says, "It's not just us. There was another tea party in Boston. Protests in Seattle, one in Houston."
Yeah. So now tea party protesters are the same as terrorists murdering people and blowing stuff up?
You know, she's right.
