Dear Governor Perry,

On March 30, 2009 the Texas House of Representatives passed HCR 50 affirming that the State of Texas claims sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment.

You have publicly supported this bill, and stated that attorney generals from all over the union could be getting ready to sue the US Government.

We are asking you to take the lead.

We are asking you to order the Texas Attorney General to publicly begin working on a law suit under Article IV, Ninth, and Tenth Amendment of the Constitution.

We are asking you to protect the citizens of Texas that we will not stand for government controlled healthcare in our state.

Under your leadership we can effectively kill the proposal of this administration and allow Texas to be a state free from socialism and collectivism.

Be the voice of reason in the national debate and allow Texans the ability to solve the problems of our state.

Thank you,

Facts about the 10th Amendment:

The Tenth Amendment (Amendment X) of the United States Constitution, which is part of the Bill of Rights, was ratified on December 15, 1791. The Tenth Amendment restates the Constitution’s principle of Federalism by providing that powers not granted to the national government nor prohibited to the states are reserved to the states or the people.

The truth about government controlled healthcare:
Government healthcare is failing miserably in Massachusetts

Betty, my husband and I have houseguests for three weeks – a ‘pen pal’ from England to whom I have been writing since we were both ten years old, her husband, and their seventeen-year-old son.

The five of us attended Arlen Specter’s town hall meeting in Lebanon, PA this morning.

We arrived at the college at 7:45 AM and the doors opened at 9:00. We were fortunate enough to be among the first 250 people because that was the hall’s limit. More people were turned away than were allowed to enter. (I would estimate that there were close to six hundred people in line.)

We of course were prepared with several questions to ask the dishonorable Mr. Specter, but upon being seated the audience was told that thirty ‘random’ people had each been handed a card with a number on it and only those thirty would be allowed to ask questions.

Needless to say, that announcement did not go over well with the crowd, and most of us suspected that the ‘chosen thirty’ were probably hand-picked Specter supporters, but that turned out not to be the case.

I would say that all but two or three of the questioners were very well informed – with a handful of them asserting that they had read H.R. 3200 in its entirety -- and they posed very astute questions and provided excellent insights into this legislative monstrosity.

Only one of the thirty questioners was in favor of the proposed ‘reform’ bill, and, although she was treated with respect by the crowd, she did not receive any real support.

Senator Specter was – to put it bluntly – pathetic. He simply kept repeating the same, tired talking points, namely:

(1) I will not vote for a bill that expands the federal deficit, and the current bill under consideration in the house does not

(2) All citizens will be able to keep their current private insurance, if they are happy with it

(3) The government will see to it that we save on healthcare by requiring preventive medicine, and by eliminating Medicare and Medicaid fraud

Needless to say, all three oft-repeated talking points were met with derision, and contrary, fact-based arguments from the floor.

He made an attempt to answer perhaps eighty percent of the questions – generally with only four or five sentences, and sometimes with replies that bore no resemblance to the question. And occasionally he would listen to a longer question/comment, shake his head, and simply ask for the next questioner. He was most definitely not interested in genuine input from his conservative constituents.

One questioner said that he would like to see this healthcare issue put to referendum. Specter feigned interest in such a thing and responded, ‘I’ll have to give that some serious thought and take the idea back to Washington with me.’

The audience saw through his ‘representative’ façade and laughed heartily at that insincerity.

The largest and loudest responses from the audience came when he asserted (1) that the majority of Americans are in favor of a single-payer system, and (2) that he is dedicated the remaining true to the Constitution. After both comments, the audience reacted with utter disbelief and disgust.

Even though we were not able to pose our questions, those questions we would have asked were covered by the other questioners, and many of them quoted directly – page, paragraph and line – from the house bill. To be blunt, Specter seemed a mental midget compared to the majority of his questioners, and seemed to know significantly less about the legislation being considered than most in the audience. He kept repeating that the senate does not yet have a bill in place, as if that were an excuse for him to be entirely unaware of the contents of the house bill.

He also pleaded ignorance regarding the paragraph on the White House website that is encouraging Americans to ‘snitch’ on their countrymen who are reporting ‘fishy’ information on the president’s plan. Either he is woefully uninformed, or he did not want to admit to knowing about that particular travesty.

As we were leaving, our English friends commented, ‘I don’t believe he answered one single question. He appears to be very adept at avoiding rational explanations – quite an escape artist.’ They were absolutely astounded at his tap dancing agility.

Looking very much forward to hearing whether your experience was similar, dear betty!

Well, I'm reporting back.

I cannot even begin to describe how disgraceful this public event, this "Town Hall Meeting" — organized under the auspices of my congress-crittur, Nikki Tsongas, fifth district, Massachusetts — really was.

I only learned of this event yesterday, via a telephonic "robocall" from Tsongas' Office. So I was primed and hot to go.

Then this evening, I got there.

BIG surprises there, my friends.

I thought to get there a little early, so showed up about 20 minutes before the official kick-off time of the festivities. I subsequently learned that I was already way too late to put any question of mine into the mix. At ten minutes to seven, there were already two lines formed some thirty deep each, and they were in that line because they showed up at five o'clock or earlier. I was already way too late to put my question to Ms. Tsongas. Which was: "What happens to doctors, under this new system?"

I mean, Obama tells us we cannot be pried away from our regular doctors under his proposed new regime. But what does such assurance mean, when the very role of the doctor is being magically transformed before our very eyes? From a person who — under the Hippocratic Oath — is devoted to the welfare of each and every individual patient, to a person who has been effectively converted into a pure functionary of the State? Under ObamaKare, you may be looking at the same person you have known and trusted for your health care for years. Under the "old system," that person was always working for your and your best interests.

But if your doctor has been turned into a mere functionary of the state, whose sole role is to make effective in your life, in your own personal medical situation, the decision reached by a body of elite experts — then kiddos, we are no longer speaking of "health care." We are no longer speaking of the sanctity of the doctor–patient relationship. We are speaking of massive cultural change. Finally, we are speaking of the plans of the would-be wielders of absolute political power, whose sole mission in life is to "instantiate" an unlivable "reality" .... With our cooperation, of course. The victims are invited to embrace their own demise in such matters. Just drink the KoolAid kids....

So I showed up too late to put my question. Bad on me. But what happened before I was admitted into the auditorium in the first place is what really makes me mad, what I find so terribly disturbing.

At the "outer door," I was questioned as to what event I thought I was attending. So of course I said, "I'm here to attend Nikki Tsongas' Town Hall Meeting." I was told (in effect): You may gain entry; but of course you also know that you may not bring any personal "bags" into this [public] meeting."

The person who said this to me was a person who must have known that to separate a lady from her personal handbag, or purse, is an unforgivable sin in a civil, free society. Nonetheless, that was the very proposition that I had to face, and comply with, just to gain admittance into the room [i.e., the public discussion].

Naturally, I asked: Why are you relieving citizens of their just property (my money, my credit cards, my personal identification papers) as some kind of "admission price" into what I supposed would be a First Amendment dialog on critical public policy issues?

I asked. The answer was "There had been 'calls'."

So I asked, "What kind of calls? Were they threatening calls? Were there any "calls" that put the Hudson citizenry into danger, let alone Nikki Tsongas?

Their answer: "There were 'calls'." You couldn't drag any further information out of them on this score.

But "they" were very serious about me leaving my handbag behind, in the supposed safe custody of three lovely oriental women whom I never met before in my life — and that was my "price of admission" into this event. So, who is this "they" or "them?" It was actually one person — an elderly grey-haired person who obviously had complete authority about who would get into Nikki's "town hall meeting," and who would not. At first, I thought this must be a plain-clothes Hudson police officer. I have had second thoughts about that subsequently. Now I think this person was a party operative.

When he challenged me about bringing my handbag into the event, I invited him to search my handbag, thus to answer any question of public danger I might pose in his mind, so to let me keep my handbag about me.

He told me he did not have the authority to do that. His instructions were simple: No one goes into Nikki's auditorium with any kind of "bag" whatsoever.

So delicious, my friends.

So, I handed over my handbag, leaving it to the tender mercies of the three lovely oriental ladies (who swore to me that they would die defending it unto the end of time — I kid you not), and went into the auditorium.

I lasted about ten minutes in that room. I recognized that the whole deal was a carefully controlled put-up scheme. Plus I was really worried about the safety of my handbag. So I left this wonderfully "transparent" public meeting, retrieved my handbag, and set about the business of just going back home. Which all things considered, seemed the most rational course under the circumstances.

On my way out, a "LaRouchie" encountered me with leaflets. The very guy who seized my handbag in the first place evidently found my behavior so interesting that I do believe I was positively surveilled by him, in my exchanges with the LaRouche person whom I never met before in my life. Nor have I any sympathy whatsoever with any form of "conspiracy" theory, be it LaRouchian or otherwise.

But this particular "LaRouchian" gentleman — I can hardly describe him as anything less than gentlemanly — was a real, highly intelligent, and deeply concerned human being who cares about the same things that directly concern me — i.e., the "public option" of ObamaCare. He was also a person of color.

Anyhoot, what I found disturbing was that the "authority figure" who seized my handbag in the first place seems to have been deeply interested in my conversations with this "LaRouchie," who's name is David. The Enforcer (seems to be that was what his main function in this "public event" all along) found me out, and was standing maybe three–four feet away from us throughout our conversation — surveilling me (and/or him), as it were — but WHY???

Anyhoot David and I had a lovely chat, I took away his literature and promised to read it. And even gave him $4 for his troubles. (He eventually asked for a monetary donation. I asked him if he would be content to receive whatever I had in my wallet. Which was four dollars exactly. He welcomed the gift, although it was puny enough. Hey, I do as much for homeless people....)

And so David and I parted company, under the keen observation of this (what seemed to me) increasingly suspicious person. The Enforcer that is. The guy who took my handbag as the price of attending a public meeting....

But I still wasn't completely "talked out" yet. So I went looking for other "worthy correspondents." And instantly found a group of females organizing themselves under a large poster which said, "Healthcare Reform Now!"

So, I went over and asked them: "In what way do you think healthcare should be reformed? And in what way do you think HR 3200 — "America's Affordable Healthcare Act of 2009" — reforms it in ways that you find beneficial?"

Well, the dear ladies were dumbstruck. Especially when I started citing section 1233 E&F of that nefarious bill. They had never heard of such a thing before, and so certainly, such a thing could not possibly be true.

The next thing I heard was: "Well I'm with her — and she's driving. So I have to leave now." End of that conversation....

Such a satisfying evening wouldn't you say, all the way around — wouldn't you think????

Anyhoot, I mean to write to Nikki Tsongas, to indicate to her what a total, utterly deplorable disgrace to We the People her Town Hall event was this evening.

I'll post it here when it's done.

As ever, dearest sister in Christ, thank you for your kind support....

Your report of your English friends reaction to arlen’s political evasion was interesting, but, considering they live with socialized healthcare, I’d like to know what they think about the issue at hand.

Interesting that you should ask that.

When they first arrived here, we asked them what they think of their healthcare system. Their response was, ‘We have no real complaints.’ It appears that they have not yet found themselves among the unfortunates who have had to wait many months for necessary surgeries, etc. And what inconveniences and lack of quality and availability in healthcare they have experienced, have simply been accepted as a way of life.

... which served to make us acutely aware of what we see as perhaps the most insidious aspect of this 'reform': the fact that, once a generation of Americans has lived under such an oppressive, tyrannical system, that generation will not know the beauty of what used to be. You cannot genuinely mourn something you have never known -- at least not to the degree that you will fight and sacrifice to restore it.

Since then, we have been describing to them how our system works, and what H.R. 3200 includes. We have also been watching quite a bit of Glenn Beck’s analysis of the healthcare ‘reform’ package, and giving them other material to read on the socialization of American medical care.

Since we have been stressing the unconstitutionality of the entire enterprise, they have begun to show a great deal of interest in our Constitution as well. (We gave them a copy to study, and they have been asking many questions, the most recent of which was, 'What would you change about the Constitution, as it stands now?' And our answer was that this republic would be immeasurably better off if our leadership would merely follow its dictates, and if we could somehow erase all unconstitutional laws from the books. If that monumental feat could be accomplished, the first major change we would then make to that precious document would be to repeal the Seventeenth Amendment.)

They appear to be realizing just how superior -- especially in terms of choice and availability of treatment -- our system is, as it stands now. And they are in complete agreement with us that a move toward government-care would be a disaster in comparison, especially as regards individual liberty, capitalism (or what is left of it), the expense of any government-run system, and the affect that universal healthcare will have on the availability of treatment to certain segments of society that are deemed ‘unproductive’ to the elitists.

They have lived all of their adult lives under the system they have now -- or one close to it -- and they really have not attempted to compare it to a system based on freedom-of-choice and free enterprise. What they have learned over the past few days has been something of an eye-opening education -- especially at today’s town hall meeting where they witnessed firsthand the fact that my husband and I are by no means alone in our anger, disgust and determination to see that this abomination does not become law.

Joanie, God bless you for being there with so many other American patriots, and for your wonderful and to the point report on the proceedings.

Betty, we look forward to hearing your report as well...God bless and keep you.

These marxist are over-reaching in the extreme. There is going to a very hard and direct blow back in response and I pray God that they will back dwon when that time comes. The American people are awakening, and their resolve is starting to show.

I am interested in both of your take on this small production I have put out on youtube a couple of days ago...if you haven't seen it already:

YOUTUBE PRESENTATION OF THE STORM UNLEASHED ON AMERICA
.

BTW, the FULL SIZE GRAPHIC of that picture was printed out and made into a poster by some man in New Hampshire that was at the counter rally against Obama. It was shown on Fox news and elsewhere today. Amazing.

Also, myself and Neil and David Wright (both freepers and oathkeepers with me) have started an effort on Facebook in the last ten days. It's really starting to take off and I would be interested in your take on that too. We are going to take the petition and the signatures directly to DC and are working with congressmen and senators to delive them to the floor of both bodies, hopefully next spring or summer:

If you have time, please let me know your thoughts on that effort as well.

A PETITION ON FACEBOOK FOR CONSTITUTIONAL RESTORATION
