We can not really expect, nor do we need, his strongly disapprove numbers to get much higher than 40%. At one time Hillary's negatives got to 44% and she is the she-devil incarnate. Now that we have reached a -8 or so the strongly disapprove wont go much higher. The number to watch is the strongly approve as his base become disenchanted, and the overall approval/disapproval rating as the middle becomes grumpy.
There is no way to spin these numbers in a good light. I haven't even heard them trying.

I was simply making the point that it was his strong approval that was sliding, more so than his strongly disapproval is rising.
I agree with you.
Right now he’s at 50/50 overall, last week it was 51 disapprove, 49, approve. When that 50 approve drops down to 40, then we’re cooking on the front burner big time. Without something really BIG happening in his favor, he doesn’t come back from 40, even with the media lying their asses off for him. We’ve got a ways to go to any kind of comfort zone.

You mean even the press has to stop lying occasionally, when it makes them look too incredibly stupid? Wow, good to know.
