FRESNO, Calif. (AP) -- The California Highway Patrol says a police chase in Dinuba has ended with seven people dead, including four children.

The patrol says Dinuba police were trying to stop a car Saturday afternoon for a traffic infraction.

Patrol Sgt. Jon Baker says the driver went through a stop sign during the pursuit and collided with a pickup truck.

Narrow beams are focused by the shape of the antenna ..
Know all that; and antenna size is proportional to wavelength, and the number of wavelengths across the 'face' of the antenna determines the beamwidth et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.

The rest of your answer is pretty much textbook that I can find myself, but thanks anyway.

And, resistance-wire plug wires are no panacea; I perceive you must not be 'active' in the field you pontificate on otherwise YWKT (you would know this).

Some piston-powered aircraft have in the past used actual shielded-line plug wires to accomplish near-zero EMI from their plug wires. I have tried this BUT it is impractical! (The hard part I had was coming up with the structure of the shield around the distributor, shielding the lines to the plugs was easy!)

So, thanks for your time, but please, in the future I know (and have done) the 'basic' stuff.

Regards, _Jim

Your such a cute little squirrel! Watch out season opens in September, wouldn’t want to see you laying on a plate beside the mashed taters.

Don’t bother with this guy. I just don’t happen to have that graphic with the title “Oh No! Not this sh$% again”.

The person is a hater and just looks to drag someone in for a little bit of what he thinks is intellectual jousting. The only problem is that we would have to take out our brains to level the playing field. But it is much better to start breakfast.

“Would you still say the cops were murderers?”

Homer they would say even if a cop wasn’t involved. Some just hate cops for being cops, I suspect most of them have been on the wrong end of the law few time’s.

I do agree with turning it into a felony offense when the person risks other peoples lives by running in an automobile. We are on the same level there

Still not OK for the cops to show up and continue shooting people indiscriminately,IMHO

There are a LOT of cop haters on Free Republic.

Yes. But also include a lot who come to swift judgements based on incomplete facts mixed with a torrent of emotionalism. A lot of generalities and blanket statements here on both sides too.

“Don’t bother with this guy.”

I know I shouldn’t do it but they’re so cute when they’re angry. LOL
Reminds me of my daughter when she was 4.

No problem professor, but I was under the impression this discussion was about production cars. Maybe you assume the rational intellect quotient of idiots who run from the cops is equal to a Master in physics but rudementary IQ observations at the local hooskow have proven otherwise. If they’re in an airplane the solution is simple, either a Stinger or a Sidewinder works efficiently.

Thats the way it is here, the moment you flee you just turned a simple stop into a felony, it makes no sense to run.

The traffic infraction was what brought this vehicle to the attention of the police. Many times when drivers flee police they are fleeing from more serious charges that they are aware of- some have been caught with dead bodies, outstanding serious warrants, drugs...you name it. For whatever reason some flee when they have done nothing but the original minor infraction but when a person flees it is normal for police to be highly motivated to catch that person in case there was a serious reason the person fled.

In a perfect world the police would have a crystal ball that would instantly tell them why the person fled and then they could choose not to pursue those with minor infractions and only chase those with a kidnap victim or a body in the trunk. As it is now the police have no way of knowing without catching the person.

Maybe from your handle, you shoot indescriminately but of all the cops I know and have known, they don’t take the action of indiscriminate shotting by anyone lightly at all, especially themselves.

In most robberies, the perps are not chased at the scene anyway, they are arrested later.I’wouldn’t want my wife and daughter run over and killed, evven if some punk got completely away with robbing some place., Just my opinion. And true, my wife and daughter could be run over and killed by someone else that same day, but thats not the same thing.

Whew. This is a hilarious thread in a sick kind of way. It’s like a window into DU bizarro world, where they would be posting exactly the same kind of replies I am seeing on the first thread page. It’s the cops’ fault that some simpleton crashed and killed a van full of kids. It’s all the cops’ fault.

One last nagging question; how is the poh-leece car left unaffected considering:

a) side lobe (or back-lobe energy) may be only 20 dB down and

b) inverse square-law propagation losses dictate some really high power might be required to even be effective at 100 ft (and referring to a) above as to the directivity of said radiating element).

Do you suppose this requires said sqad car be modified to remain operative during operation of this device?

Also, won't other modern conveniences be affect/rendered inert in an urban setting (TVs VCRs nearby cellular infrastructure cites etc.) when a ‘discharge’ is made?

All this disruptive power in the hands of a city cop, whom I'm sure has had more than adequate training in the use and side-effects of such a device ...
