Israel last month asked the United States for permission to attack Iran's nuclear facilities, Kuwaiti newspaper al-Jarida reported on Friday.
The paper quoted a "US diplomatic source located in Jerusalem," but the report's credibility was not confirmed.
According to the sources, after the opposition riots broke out in Iran following June's presidential election results, Israel asked the US government for a green light to strike the country's nuclear facilities, along with other vital facilities in Iran.
The source added that the Obama administration ignored the Israeli request, that was sent by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, with President Shimon Peres's signature as well.

The Israelis must be crazy if they wait for Obama’s approval.
I tend to doubt this report. I can’t believe Israel would have struck a blow at a time of Iranian civil insurection. It could have had the effect of solidifying Iranian nationalism. Iranians may want freedom, but they by and large do not like Israel.
I find this as hard to believe as if they claimed Israel had asked Ahmadinejad and bin Laden to approve their attack.
My BS meter needle just buried.
The phrase "Just Do It" comes to mind.
When Israel is ready, they’re not going to wait for a green light from Obama
I agree. They need to do what they need to do.
but they by and large do not like Israel.
The reaction wouldn't be any different had they be attacked by any other nation.
And Iranian (popular, not the regime and it's supporters) animosity towards Israel is way overestimated. Iran and Israel were in close cooperation for almost 30 years on every level of culture, politics and security issues. There is a very proud Iranian Jewish community in Israel which reaches Iranians also via Persian-language Radio Programs. Indeed, whatever the opinion on Israel or Jews, the average Iranian HATES Palestinians at least just as much. They see that the regime is more interested in Arab "Palestine" than the plight of it's own citizens.
Israel needs no US permission to whack Iran. Obamallah would say no anyway, to protect his fellow Islamics
The unrest would have been a good time to whack that Islamic Terrorist State.
I don’t believe this for a second. Israel doesn’t need nor would ask Obama’s permission. Iran has already declared it’s intentions in regards to Israel, which is a declaration of war. Israel should, and does take Imamadjihadi threat to blow Israel off the map. Because the international community refuses to do anything to stop Irans nuclear weapons development, Israel has every right to take defensive action to prevent the nutcases in Iran from completing their threats.
Disinformation. That would have givens the Mullahs a common enemy to divert attention to.
Expect the unexpected. Don't sleep Mullahs.
Umm...I do not buy this “Iranians are really good people” comment.
This seems to be a popular excuse from non-conservative Republicans regarding Iran....the excuse for not acting militarily
We have been waiting for years for this so-called “peaceful” rise of the people. In the latest uprisings....these people were being led by another Islamic who is just as nutty as Ahmanutjob is....and just as fueled up with that Islamic hatred.
Israel needs to whack Iran and the sooner the better. That uprising in Iran was merely to replace one Islamic nutjob with another.
This one does not pass the smell test one bit.
First, I don’t think Netanyahu is inclined to get “permission” from Obama to do anything. Even if they did, the Obama Administration would have likely leaked that request to the US State-run Media in order to ruin the surprise and prevent any attack against the Iranians.
Strong BS aroma here...
“...Peres’ signature as well...”
LOL. These requests come with signatures now? Like a birth certificate?
Bibi has a pretty simple choice—destroy Iran’s nuclear facilities regardless of US opposition, or wait until Hussein sells out Israel to his home-boy, Islamic cronies. Not exactly complicated, is it?
The only credence I can give it would be if Israel wanted to test what happens when US permission is asked for at a time they have no intention of using or abiding by it. When they do strike, I’d expect no permission to be requested and if requested, then no “permission” to be offered.
The Loser in Chief voted “Present”.
Next time Israel may not bother to even ask us about it.
If this is 0bama’s way to “improve the image of the US around the world” then its as big of a joke as he is.
This IS possible THE most serious foreign policy issue on the table and he simply ignores the request?
