Yep, it's been messed with. I had to blow it up to see it but that's a "K" and that's a "6" on the original.

No, the early originals were compressed too much so the E looked like K and the 0 or O like a 6. This is explained later in the thread. Also look for the best quality originals at Salamanders link at post 1570.

That was explained, yes. But it was also disputed. I never saw a response to Jim Robinson’s questions in investigating that explanation in this thread.
