Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner said in an interview airing Sunday on ABC's "This Week" that it will take hard choices to lower the deficit "very dramatically." He said overhauling the health care system and lowering costs are keys to getting the deficit under control. Geithner was asked in the interview whether he would rule out new taxes. He said the country needs to understand the administration will do "what's necessary."

So they used stephanopoulous with Geithner, and the AP with Summers, to get the word out: middle class tax increases will be the back to school special this fall.
They figured out even a 100% tax on the rich will not even begin to pay to socialize the USA.

Yes you are right. That’s why the October Surprises are so key to elections now that they are choreographed months or years in advance. The “independents” or for the most part people who are easily swayed and wishy-washy.
