ASK PAYPAL HOW THEY FEEL ABOUT THE WOUNDED
BLACKFIVE.NET ^ | 7/31/09 | Laughing Wolf

In an update to his post, which resulted in an update to my post, Chuck notes that shafting Soldiers' Angels and our wounded troops has turned out to be a bit of a PR problem for PayPal/E-Bay:

Paypal is owned by eBay. Their PR department is at (408) 376-7458. Please be polite.

This is turning into a big PR mess for them, and a couple thousand voice messages suggesting that, while we don’t think they hate wounded soldiers, we’d love it if they could, you know, confirm that.//

Heck with a couple, how about a few thousand polite voicemails along this line? 408-376-7458 is the number to call. My own thought to E-Bay/PayPal is that a rather sizable donation to SA would be a good start for f*****g over not just Valour-IT but also an unrelated fund drive to send Christmas to the troops.

Why don’t you explain what the issue is, before asking people to complain?

Coincident with the Gun Blogger Rendezvous Raffle, Soldiers’ Angels had also started a fund drive for other projects that same weekend. PayPal put a stop to that. Here’s Patti Patton-Bader’s official statement:

Online donations through PayPal are a huge part of our fundraising. They shut down our entire account-not just the raffle button—for twelve hours right in the middle of an email fundraising push. Looking at the Terms of Use, we couldn’t understand where we’d gone wrong, but we had to immediately remove the raffle so we could get back online ASAP. This just breaks our hearts because we were so excited about the tremendous fundraising impact the Gun Blogger Rendezvous raffle was already having.

Ho-kay. Someone back at the site is apparently claiming that Paypal is being squeezed by a California law banning them from taking part in any gun related transaction, and that’s what they identified the raffle as being.

If so, I don’t think this is quite the same as Google refusing to index sites having gun ads. It does mean that payments in such a raffle would have to be handled in some other fashion than Paypal.

Hadn’t heard of Google refusing to index sites that have gun ads, do you have the link?

I hate to be so picky about this but after checking out both links provided I still can’t see anything that shows PayPal prohibiting you from any specific activity. Do you suppose someone at one site or another could post an official communique from PayPal to that extent?

It would add credibility to your claims...

I quit using paypay a long time ago, they are notorious for shutting down accounts for no good reason and freezing all checking accounts associated with them
