Glenn Beck and the 'Birthers,' equally unhinged (Barf Alert)
Chicago Tribune ^ | July 29, 2009

Posted on 07/29/2009 6:34:35 AM PDT by Zakeet

Syndicated talk show host Glenn Beck is clearly a nut, who may be better at using the Rush Limbaugh playbook than the master himself. Take a look at this VIDEO during which Beck calls President Obama a racist but uses nothing to back it up.

To say that Obama, a man reared by his white mother and her white family in predominately white or multi-ethnic environs, is a racist, and not give proof of that--- boggles the mind...

But the problem here may not be Beck’s assertion, but the fact that he’s a part of the same angry fringe knot as the "Birthers," who steadfastly deny that Obama was born in this country. They have been causing such a rancid stink lately that the House of Representatives on Tuesday included in a resolution celebrating the 50th anniversary of Hawaii’s statehood, a statement of the obvious: “The 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, was born in Hawaii.”

There’s nothing Obama can do that would appease any of these people.

[Snip]

So it's not that the Becks and Birthers of the country don’t have an opportunity to see things fairly or in a more nuanced way. It’s that they choose to keep the blinders on. Or maybe, at least in Beck's case, it's less about the blinders and more about simply making a buck.

So, are discussions about race better served by ignoring folk like Beck and the Birthers or exposing them?

You tell me.

He could release his actual birth certificate and not some certification of the birth certificate. I am surprise Obama worshipers do not want to know which hospital Obama was born or who was the doctor who delivered him.

State DMVs will not accept a certificate of live birth for identification; they want an actual birth certificate. The president's supporters say he has one -- this includes record keepers in Hawaii that vouch that it is there in their files. You'd think that this president -- who campaigned on a platform of transparency -- would just produce the birth certificate to shut the birthers up. That would be transparency we can believe in.

Actually this is the article in NRO today. I’m sorry for some reason I can’t put up the address.

Barry and his buddies are purposely adding fuel to this fire by spending money to “hide something” about all this. I think is a conniving little game, like much of the other juvenile stuff coming out of this admin.

If Glenn Beck is "unhinged" why is the Tribune sagging?

Oh, that one's good too. I was thinking the Gates issue, so I guess that's why I fastened on that one.

WND has obtained two long form birth certificates of twin girls born in hospital a day Obama. Very interesting.

Dawn Turner Trice

" I wrote about a research study from the University of Illinois at Chicago and the University of Michigan that found white people tend not to want to live with blacks no matter their income."

" I thought about this last week while listening to a National Public Radio story about voters in southern Appalachia who allowed their fear of a black man to play a role in their presidential decision-making."

"The Rush Limbaugh types have made a living oversimplifying issues that history makes far more nuanced."

I get up everyday, and everyday there is something that unnerves me about this presidency and our elected politicians from both parties.

Who do these people think they are?

There should be term limits. Didn’t our original contitution have term limits?

These people grow rich in office. Sen Dodd and the rest of them get sweet deals.

Pelosi is a conniver. Why can’t the American public read the bills before they are voted on?

These people should be run out. Both parties.

From a University of Wyoming press release:

A march, panel discussions, music and keynote addresses from a prominent newspaper columnist and the former American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) president highlight the annual Martin Luther King Jr./March and Days of Dialogue (MLK/DOD) celebration next week at the University of Wyoming.

Sure there is!

Uphold the Oath of Office and his promises of transparency;

Actively support strengthening enumerated Constitutional rights;

Stop apologizing for the US;

Learn to throw like a man;

Learn to dress like a man;

Embrace free market capitalism.

‘1. Rev. Wright
2. He called his own grandmother a “typical white person”.’

Don’t forget the classic:

“And it’s not surprising then they [rural Pennsylvanians] get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

I expect there are more bitter people since 0bama took office than before. ;-)

Thanks for correcting my memory. I recall from his life story that, when he hit rock bottom, he found religion and conservatism as well. As long as he was flying high in the celebrity world, he wasn't looking for either.

On Hurricane Katrina

DAWN TURNER TRICE:

The people whom I spoke to did not feel they were victimized necessarily because of their race at the beginning (until race hustlers got involved) or at the onset because of this hurricane. I mean, there was victimization prior to the hurricane. You can go to places along -- Gulfport or places in New Orleans as a tourist and never know that there is a black under class or that the poverty is so stark -- the same thing in any city, as we said earlier, around the country.

One of the things that I think that this administration (Bush) has done a very good job of doing is there's a prevailing perception that there is no race problem in this country or there is no underclass. And the people whom we see often are the Condi Rices and the Colin Powells, and, yes, black people have done very well and there's no denying that. But there's still a group of people who are suffering and they are for all intents and purposes, they're invisible.

What the storm did was uncover that. What we're looking at now, we're shocked because we've been told one thing, that "Hey, this doesn't exist," and now we're seeing that it clearly does exist. And there's the shock, well, we need to get beyond the shock, and there's a lot of shame that should be involved with that as well.

******

There should be shame alright! People should be ashamed they have lived off the government their entire lives!

WTF? They brought it up and we are responding.

You can’t keep using a perjorative any time want.

You eventually cheapen the word, the value of that word and it will be a commodity that will not even be qualifier for conversation or action.

There is nothing he can do to appease...

Well, he could try by spending a micron of what he spent in the bloated budget or even a misty drop of what he has spent fighting "the birthers" (aka, constitutionalist) by sending $10 dollars to Hawaii and having them release his records.

The ridiculousness is from the anti-birthers.
