Looks like everyone got the same memo from Obama today.

Sad because American Thinker was a LOT better than National Review.

The Birther theory is likewise an artifact of left-wing squabbles. Conservatives who are tempted by the Birther theory should ask themselves why the mainstream media is now so interested in the story when they were so reluctant to give any attention to the allegations during the 2008 campaign (when, if true, they might have made a difference).
***The question answers itself, duhhh. The MSM wasn’t interested for the very reason that they might have made a difference.

Did the liberals not espouse patently baseless and nearly insane “Bush theories” for the last 8 years?

Did they not admit, that although they were lies, these “theories” would evolve into effective “memes” and therefore influence the masses and so should be disseminated [pardon the pun] liberally and willfully?

Well, turnabout is fair play.

All hail the Kenyan born pseudo-POTUS.

“Rules For Radicals” can be used against them quite easily, especially since their messiah-puppet is just as effective as the ludicrous papier mache’ ones they carry in their histrionic “protests”.

Here in the United States, the conspiracy theory that alleges that President Barack Obama faked his American birth is likewise troubling. Rather than propelling Republicans to power, however, the "Birther" theory is being used by Democrats and their media allies to isolate and undermine the opposition.

The author is spot on.

I've seen how conspiracy theories can threaten a democracy.

But ours is a republic, so quit worryin' about it.

Setting aside the "birth certificate" issue for a moment, it's the fact that the presidential candidate that promised the most open and transparent candidacy and administration in the modern era, has been quite the opposite. Beyond the two autobiographies, penned naturally by Obama himself, we really don't know much about this man. Evan Thomas, on the Charlie Rose show two nights after his "win", admitted as much. And, there hasn't been any effort on the part of traditional media to investigate anything beyond what Obama has claimed to be true himself.

Now, with the apparent group-think dismissal of the birth certificate questions, any inquiry into his college transcripts or applications, his other published or non-published scholarly works and his actual workings as a "community organizer" especially with respect to his interaction with ACORN will all go unanswered. Presumably because they'll be dismissed as questions from a "fringe" element and the like.

Obama, and his compatriots are cunning, clever and thorough. They have made it clear that they are not to be trifled with. The only saving grace is even with the daily fawning media coverage, lack of journalistic curiosity into his actual background, and near domination of the news cycle, his poll number continue to gradually slide - as if the American electorate is starting to slowly wake, despite the dulcet tones of the media lullaby.

Interesting... how they mention that socialist regimes rely on skeptics for a scapegoat. It seems like such a conundrum. So, how can the honest people of the world actually win against a lie machine such as this? It seems to come back to religion, doesn’t it?

Unreal. First National Review, and now American Thinker.

It’s pretty obvious to me, that these left-wing propagandists have infiltrated much deeper into conservative territory than I ever imagined.

This is actually frightening. What’s next? Are Rush and JB Williams going to come out against the Birther movement?

Unbelievable.

Hey Republicans! Let’s make a deal! You give us AIPers all those crazy folks who think the Constitution matters, and you can keep the unprincipled hacks who wouldn’t know a founding principle if it smacked ‘em upside the head like a baseball bat.

Funny thing, you don't see Democrats worried about their conspiracy theorists. They end up winning everything when they come out with their 9/11 conspiracies and Trig conspiracies, but Republicans are supposed to worry that fighting Obama’s unprecedented document concealment will make Americans want never ending communism!

Another factor pushing the birther phenomenon is that those who have thoroughly investigated the birther claims have much more detailed knowledge of the subject than the average pundit or reporter writing about it. Birthers keep waiting to hear real answers to the basic questions, but those answers just never come. Instead one hears bloviating reporters and pundits who don’t know a COLB from a parking ticket. “Shut up” is not an acceptable answer.

Here's a comment I left on American Thinker in response to this article. Don't know if they'll publish it:

"The test is not simply whether there are doubts, but whether those doubts are reasonable. That is a test the Birther theory failed long ago."

How so? Has Obama finally released the long form, original vault copy of his birth certificate? Or is he continuing to spend slabs of cash to keep it under lock and key?

The major point brought forth by those of us brash enough to expect the US Constitution to be respected and enforced, is never mentioned in this article. That point is not whether or not Obama is a US citizen, but whether or not he is a natural born US citizen. After Democrat Party and Democrat media pressure had been brought to bear, and to much media fanfare, McCain conclusively proved he was. Your turn, Obama.

If Mr. Pollak is so certain that Obama does indeed meet full, Constitutional requirements to hold the Office of the Presidency, let him post irrefutable proof to that end, and put the matter to rest for good. Enough of these polemical pieces with no hard facts presented in support of their theses. The "birther" issue is a matter of cold, hard facts -- polemics have little place in resolving it.

Of course, Obama could have ended the controversy a long time ago simply by releasing his original long form, vault copy birth certificate. But instead, he has spent upwards of $1,000,000 to prevent that, and many other documents pertinent to his background, from being released. He continues doing so.

Do not tell me that Obama and his handlers are deliberately keeping this issue alive to destroy the conservative wing of the Republican Party, since publicizing this issue will trigger reflexive curiousity and foment doubt of his legitimacy in the minds of many Americans who may not have heard of the issue before. In other words, pushing this issue to destroy his political opponents has great potential to blow up in Obama's face. Does anyone seriously think that Obama or his handlers would take such a gamble with his image; one that has been, and continues to be, meticulously crafted and tightly controlled?

How about those Selective Service records, Mr. Messiah? How about those Occidental College records? What did you do on your 1980s trip to Pakistan? Who paid for that trip? How did you pay for the expensive Harvard miseducation you received?

The questions concerning who this guy is, who has backed him, who maneuvered him into the White House, who's been paying his bills, go on and on and on. We, the American people, are entitled to answers. Obama works for us, and not the other way around.

In terms of how conspiracy theories can destroy a political entity's viability, I offer this rebuttal: The left-generated conspiracy theories that Bush and Cheney directed the 911 attacks, that both were intent on creating a fascist state in America, that "Bush lied," that Bush was a torturer, that there were no WMDs in Iraq, that Bush caused the Katrina disaster, that Bush hated Blacks, that Bush was destroying civil liberties, that Bush was a congenital idiot, that Bush was the worst President ever, clearly demonstrate that the delegitimizing of one's political opponents based on falsehoods can certainly translate into big power gains. Look who's in the White House, Mr. Pollak. Look who has a majority in both Houses of Congress, and then tell me I am wrong.

Release the long form, vault copy of your birth certificate, Obama. Release your Occidental College records, your Illinois state Senate records, your Indonesian passport, your Harvard records, your Columbia thesis, to name a few. Then all doubts concerning who you are, where you came from and what your true intentions are, will be ended.

Lots of words, not a shred of proof. This author forgets that the reason many believe Zero was a law professor is because he claimed repeatedly to have "taught Cnstitutional Law" at University of CHicago. This author assumes that the reason many believe lies about Zero is not because Zero told lies about himself.

The same GOPers who claim that “Birthers” hurt the GOP....are the same ones who blame Sarah Palin for the 2008 Presidential loss....who claim that supporting illegal alien amnesty wins Hispanic votes (McCain lost Hispanics 2-1 to Obama).

This anti-Birther stuff is just another attempt to push away conservatives from the GOP.

I guess the GOPers want to lose 2010 and 2012 as well....

The article is spot on and I’m glad an arch-conservative publication like American Thinker has finally weighed on this.

Obama isn’t going to be removed from office via the “birth certificate” issue. It isn’t going to happen. It’s a done, finished issue. Let’s move on to things we can actually have an influence on.....like stopping ObamaCare and cap and trade.
