Excellent question.
What they used to do in the old days was print a bad photocopy of the original (often in inverse video because of the copying technology), sign it, and stamp it with the official stamp of the issuing agency. And that was what you presented at the passport office or wherever.
If they had a database of scanned long forms, they could continue to do just that. The only difference would be that the quality would be much better.
Why don't they? Well, they're morons state employees.
The only rationale I can think of for the current practice is that it hides irrelevant details and thus improves privacy. Of course, by keeping supporting details hidden, it also fuels doubt.
LGF a intellectually dishonest twit.
It needs to be made available to a U.S. Federal court and a bipartisan team of forensic document examiners need to inspect it and let us know what their findings are.
Robert Gibbs said yesterday that Obama is a “citizen.” I found it interesting that he did not say “U.S. citizen” - he just said “citizen.” Everyone in the world is a citizen of or to something.
As you can see by the responses, and lack thereof, nobody here cares what LGF thinks...

AKA Obamas Birth Certificate through a glass, darkly.
Looking through a glass, darkly, at AKA Obamas Birth Certificate.
The latest announcement from Hawaiian Officials isn’t any more help than their original announcement. Today this was released:
http://www.honoluluadvertiser.com/article/20090727/BREAKING01/90727082/Obama+Hawaii+born++insist+Isle+officials
I, Dr. Chiyome Fukino, director of the Hawaii State Department of Health, have seen the original vital records maintained on file by the Hawaii State Department of Health verifying Barrack Hussein Obama was born in Hawaii and is a natural-born American citizen. I have nothing further to add to this statement or my original statement issued in October 2008 over eight months ago .
I dont doubt that Dr. Fukino is accurately reporting that the document she saw says that AKA Obama was indeed born in Hawaii.
Laws of the Territory of Hawaii ACT 96 To Provide For The Issuance Of Certificates Of Hawaiian Birth was in effect from 1911 until 1972 and allowed someone who was born outside the Hawaiian Islands to be registered as though he were born in Hawaii. Under that law, someone simply would have presented herself to the Hawaiian authorities and declared that the child was born in Hawaii. The person could have sworn under oath and presented witnesses and other evidence. If the authorities accepted it, that was the end of it. All a person had to do was file a false statement and Hawaii took them at their word.

I want to see it.
The word of one lackey does not make it so.
>Health Director Dr. Chiyome Fukino said Monday she has seen the original birth records that verify Obama was born in Hawaii, and is a “natural-born American citizen.”
Then show them to us, the US citizens that must live under his rule!
I do not take your word for it mister Fukino. Show us yours too!
“In the year 1866, the United States for the first time adopted a local municipal law under Sec. 1992 of U.S. Revised Statutes that read: All persons born in the United States and not subject to any foreign power, excluding Indians not taxed, are declared to be citizens of the United States.
Rep. Bingham commenting on Section 1992 said it means every human being born within the jurisdiction of the United States of parents not owing allegiance to any foreign sovereignty is, in the language of your Constitution itself, a natural born citizen. (Cong. Globe, 39th, 1st Sess., 1291 (1866)”
Actually ST, for this to be an official statement it should have come from government channels put out on official letterhead like the Fukino letter that you have been posting lately.
Tomorrow her phone should be ringing off the hook to confirm this story.
The issue may "fizzle down" a bit in the LSM, but I doubt it will here on FR.
The exact statement was:
“I, Dr. Chiyome Fukino, director of the Hawai’i State Department of Health, have seen the original vital records maintained on file by the Hawai’i State Department of Health verifying Barrack Hussein Obama was born in Hawai’i and is a natural-born American citizen. I have nothing further to add to this statement or my original statement issued in October 2008 over eight months ago....”
Which proves nothing, unless the good dr is a lawyer and understands that just because a person is born in a state does not mean that they are a “natural born citizen”
I been saying this for months. Nobody been listening.
The issue is his father being a Kenyan, not where he was born.

If he won’t release the birth certificate I would be just as happy to see the passport he went to Afganastan with or an application to college
maybe his father was a jackel
Not a judge?
Do you need a judge to say that you were born in whatever place you were born in, or will the keeper of the records do?
The father was kenyan - art 2 states that to be a natural born citizen, one must be born on American soil, of two parents who at the time of birth were American citizens.
The father was not an American citizen at time of chosen1's birth. Chosen1 is not a natural born citizen. He is not eligible to serve as President of the United States.
'nuff said.
JG
Unless she's a judge in a court establishing a fact, she had no business doing that.
omg. that’s her responsibility, just like it is in the case of your birth records.
You contend then that a keeper of records should have been able to pronounce on McCain’s natural born status?
Didn’t. Think. So.
