HONOLULU -- State officials again are confirming that President Barack Obama was born in Hawaii.
Health Director Dr. Chiyome Fukino said Monday she has seen the original birth records that verify Obama was born in Hawaii, and is a "natural-born American citizen."
Fukino made the announcement in hopes of ending any lingering rumors about Obama's citizenship. She issued a similar press release Oct. 31.

also, last statement (in Oct. 08) said she (Chiyome Fukino) AND Alvin Onaka, Registrar of Vital Statistics “have personally seen and verified that the Hawai‘i State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures,”

Also, now she’s a constitutional scholar capable of rendering an opinion on what a “natural born citizen” is??
Someone just needs to make a call to the good doctor and ask the question personally. Did you in fact make the statement to the AP and give information to them regarding the birthplace of President Obama? If so, please repeat as closely as you can what you said to the anonymous AP reporter.
The CNN chief said his researchers determined the paper documents were “discarded” which was misinterpreted by many, as CNN intended, to mean “destroyed.”

There is no press release or anything else on the hawaii.gov website verifying this story by 1 reporter. No other Hawaii paper website has the story. No website for Hawaiin tv station this story. Is that odd?
It will be hard to convince anyone (and especially a judge) when the State of Hawaii has made their official announcement... :-)

On this one, I’m sure you’ll see an official press release. And most likely that will be on the website. Just wait a few days and I’ll bet you’ll see it soon enough.
It’s an announcement that was just made. I saw the WorldNetDaily report posted just 45 minutes ago. Web pages are never as current as an announcement. If you wait a few days, you’ll probably see a press release posted on their web page.
From WND: According to FindLaw.com, which is cited by [Jim]Geraghty, the requirements that were in force from Dec. 24, 1952 to Nov. 13, 1986, encompassing the time of Obama's birth, state, "If only one parent was a U.S. citizen at the time of your birth, that parent must have resided in the United States for at least 10 years, at least five of which had to be after the age of 16."
Also there is not much question that Obama had to give up his US citizenship when he was adopted by his Indonesian step father. So he is now either still an Indonesian citizen or a naturalized US citizen. Does this mean that he is no longer a natural born citizen? I don't think any court precident exists for this scenario.
How can she have seen it (recently) if the originals were destroyed about 1991?

On further searching, this statute was for children born outside the USA with only one parent being a US citizen. Hawaii was a state when Obama was born. If he was born in Hawaii he would have been a natural born citizen. This does not answer if he could become a natural born citizen again after changing citizenship to Indonesian.

In another carefully worded statement, Hawaii’s health director claimed today to have seen “original vital records” that prove “Barrack [sic] Hussein Obama was born in Hawaii and is a natural-born American citizen.”
LOL,a federal judge can change the outcome in 1 second via a discovery motion granted for the plaintiff.That’s all it takes.
I wonder if she knows the requirements for a natural born citizen circa 1961. I also wonder if she understands the legal question is far more than his birth. It also includes was his mother able to confer citizenship at that time. Was he adopted before age of 5? Did he have Indonesian citizenship? All can change his status. It is not simply was he born in Hawaii, but all the circumstances combined that make the decision on natural born citizenship.
