The long-awaited 911 tape and audio of the controversial July 16 arrest of Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. are being made public for the first time today, Cambridge officals just announced.
The tapes will speak for themselves, said Cambridge Police Commissioner Robert Haas.
Hass said the tapes will create some confusion, but only with police codes youll hear but the remainder of the tapes are crystal clear.
Its in plain language in most part and you can draw your own conclusions, Haas.
In the 911 tapes, Lucia Whalen can be heard spelling out the name of the street and saying that another woman approached her about seeing two men trying to enter the Ware Street home.

The caller refers to them as “two gentlemen.” You can’t get any more PC or nondescript than that. If these HAD been burglars, they could have walked away with half the place in the time it took the dispatcher to just get the address right.
By the way, if I saw two men entering my neighbor’s home by forcing in the door, I would have no problem describing them to the police as “two white males” or “two black males.” For all I know, the police are looking for them anyway and the more descriptive I am, the better. I refuse to be sucked in to this “racial profiling” garbage.
In other words, TO HELL WITH THE CONSTITUTION!
Seems a lot of the talking was done on a different channel...channel 2?
He did, however, discriminate against Asian burglars by using de-legitimizing exclusionary language to negate their self-worth.
>Yes they are. Both the 911 tape and the audio of arrest.<
Where is the audio of the arrest??
Bushes fault!
You are mixing the two tapes together.
That is dispatch talking to the cops. She tells him one of them might be hispanic.
The 911 officer is the one who asked the question of the witness twice.
When dispatch gets that information, she notifies the officer that one of them may be hispanic.
Are you kidding if they DID NOT accept him they would then be in trouble.
In large dispatch centers one dispatcher talks to the caller and another listens in and dispatches responders while passing them information which the caller is giving. That way one dispatcher doesn’t have to talk with the caller AND talk to the responders. Confirming the address ASAP is crucial because responders are being dispatched within seconds (though the caller doesn’t know that because they don’t hear the radio traffic from the other dispatcher).
Interesting and a good fiond on your part. he teaches:
[African and African American Studies 174. The African City]
Catalog Number: 6977
Suzanne P. Blier
Half course (spring term). Hours to be arranged.
This seminar investigates critical issues in Africas rich urban centers. Architecture, city planning, spatial framing, popular culture, and new art markets will be examined.
Note: Expected to be given in 201112.
I am sure that he won’t interject his racial feelings to people there.
Interesting. So the police went out, not knowing anything about the race of the ‘gentlemen’, with the exception that maybe one looked Hispanic. Doesn’t sound like the police were doing any ‘profiling’.
Ummm, no. First of all, if it came down to a battle of 0bama vs. the Constitution, why do you believe the Constitution would win? It would just give Democrats more fuel to burn it.
And keep in mind, Clinton was impeached, and all that resulted in was a lot of Republicans being removed from office. Birther conspiracy theories are fringe. Republicans in congress should not push back against them, but they shouldn’t take them up as their own, either. They should take a position of “there just isn’t anything there to go on right now.”
I could very easily see many Republicans being forced into a lose-lose situation by a faction of the party that demands they pursue impeachment over this Birther stuff or face being labeled traitors, thereby ensuring they lose reelection either way.
0bama will not be removed from office, least of all over some conspiracy theory with no proof behind it. We are stuck with him for the next 3½ years. How we deal with that will determine whether or not we’re stuck with him for another 4 after that. If he is persecuted by Republicans over what most Americans perceive as bogus, then he will win a huge sympathy vote, and many voters will ignore his atrocious record in office. Don’t give them ammunition. 0bama is counting on it. He could end the Birther stuff once and for all by just releasing his long form birth certificate. The reason he doesn’t is more likely because he knows it HELPS him, than because there is anything there that would disqualify him.
0bama wants his opponents to look like fringe loonies. He wants the perception to be that Republicans have nothing better to use against him than some nutty Birther conspiracy theory. This actually creates a diversion from the real issues and takes the heat off of his policies. He is trying to cultivate the same sort of armor that Clinton did. We must not play into it this time.
It is better to leave 0bama’s legitimacy in tatters in the eyes of the voters who will then throw him out in 2012 than to actually try to pursue these things in any official way, making him a martyr and generating public sympathy.
We should do what we should have done with Clinton — leave him to twist in the wind.

I can understand about getting the address up front, but it sounds to me like the dispatcher almost lost the caller by turning the inquisition back on her. If it was Pasadena TX, the caller would have been close to saying, "Fine. Looks like a robbery in progress, I'll go check it myself with Misters Smith and Wesson."
Well, You have left out all the Obozobutts and Demorats! Did you do that intentionally?
Anyone of Us that were screaming vocirously like Gates would have been forced to take a Blood Alcohol test and arrested on public drunkedness and assault on a police officer, but then we aren’t “Protected!”
GOD Bless You Mr. Chamberlain! Right on!
