Yes, especially since something caused him to think the ‘gentleman’ who was there might be the resident. I don’t know if he went in thinking that might be a possibility because of something he was told, or if it was after he had seen Gates’ ID.
I would imagine that there was a reason for them asking the 911 caller to stay around until after the police arrived, and that would be because the police might want to question her about what she saw. Since, she said that she never would have noticed what was happening if the other lady hadn’t approached her, I figure the ‘concerned’ woman who lived in the neighborhood probably stayed there with her while she waited for police to arrive.
I hope there is an elderly lady. If it comes down to a he said/she said between Crowley and Whalen, I think Whalen comes out ahead. I listened to the tape and she’s pretty damn straightforward. I don’t care how crazy Gates acted, if they can prove Crowley changed just one fact or misremembered just one thing, his goose is cooked. Again, it’s almost impossible to believe Crowley would make up the part about talking with Whalen. It makes no sense.
