Conservative means supporting freedom and traditional values. Adopting orphans is definitely part of that tradition.

All of you who criticize someone for giving orphans a wonderful life and a forever Mommy, shame on you; it is YOU not espousing conservative values.

Foreign adoption is time consuming, expensive, and usually requires travel. However, when you get a referral you know you are going to come home with your child. Domestic adoption is often a risky situation with birth-parents changing their minds, etc. and can have an uncertain outcome.

expense and the red tape of dealing with the Chinese communist government and all of its corrupt bureaucracies is STILL easier than trying to adopt in the US.

AMEN! And just wait until we end up trying to get MEDICAL CARE outside the US! It will probably be easier if OBAMACARE ever passes! GOD HELP US (and I mean that)!

what’s the better choice:
1.) stay in an orphanage
2.) be adopted by an amazing woman and a loving mother that offers him a future, and a fantastic one at that?

:) i pick 2.)

A lot of American children, infants and toddlers would like to be adopted. Probably Madonna and Angelina syndromw.

Whoa. Learn a little about adoption before you post something like that. It's virtually impossible for a single woman (or man), especially over age 40, to adopt an American baby. You can BUY a baby from a pregnant woman, as Rosie O'Donnell did, but God bless Laura, she apparently didn't want to go the buy-a-baby route and decided to take in a child who didn't have parents. Good for her.

It is VERY difficult to adopt an infant in the US.

Thank you. That's just the point I made in another post. People who haven't investigated adoption get the impression (mostly from the media) that there are loads of babies and toddlers out there for adoption in the U.S. -- there are NOT. And single women over 40 are NOT given preference with the very, very few adoptable children that are out there.

Won’t fly. Adopted, or otherwise, conservatives have supported the traditional two-parent family, and ANY kid is not getting a fair deal if adopted or placed in a one-parent family, even if that parent is Lincoln or Gandhi.

Just commenting on the hypocrisy. If it's a Hollywood person---even Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt---it's questionable. But let a conservative do it and it's honorable.

Why not get married, THEN adopt?

If you can’t get married, why not do something good with your life?

Lucky kids to have such a brilliant, lovely mother!

That’s a mistake lots of radio talk show people make. Rush’s golf rhapsodies send me to the racquetball court. All the personal stuff (dogs, cats, kids) is too much (boring) information.

Your post #14 was my thought as well. Laura always talks about the high rate of abortion in inner cities yet she goes overseas to adopt. Yes it can take longer to adopt in America if you are looking for the “right” baby but many inner cities have their foster care system overflowing with unwanted children and the process to adopt is much shorter and cheaper than going abroad. IMO, Laura could easily have adopted one of these kids who wasn’t aborted. *flame suit on

I don’t know anyone who adopted a Russian child that did not have problems. Russian orphanages are pretty dire places
