agreed. doesn’t pass the smell test. in Fresh water, wouldn’t bodies sink first, then float? And if one party was in trouble, one additional could have drowned assisting, but surely the third would have been sent to the desk for help?
I’ve stayed at Best Westerns - their pools are smallish and tend to be much narrower than a gym or school-size pool, and the ‘deep’ end is only about 6 feet and not much of it is deep end, since motel diving boards are dinosaurs nowadays. not sure of the laws in that area, but most states require some sort of pole-type rescue device and/or lifepreserver to be poolside and readily accessible. According to this story, all three could swim.
I am losing track. It this a new case or the third or fourth separate incident?

Can we all say: “Rest in Peace?” What a horrible tragedy to befall a family.
Maybe it would help if they didn’t wear a sack into the pool.

Maybe they just didn’t know how to swim and got in over their heads. It’s unfortunate.

KINGSTON — A Montreal businessman charged with killing four members of his family conspired with his second wife and his oldest son to commit mass murder in a bid to restore his honour, relatives of one of the victims have told Sun Media.
The family members allege Mohammed Shafi had beaten his 19-year-old daughter Zainab and threatened recently to kill her and the woman he had passed off as his cousin.
She was his first wife, though he had concealed that fact since the family of three adults, all natives of Afghanistan, and seven children moved to Canada two years ago and settled in Montreal.
“We are convinced that this is a crime of honour, organized under the guidance of Mr. Shafi, his wife Tooba and their oldest son Hamed,” Diba Masoomi wrote in an e-mail sent to Kingston Police more than two weeks ago.
Mohammed Shafi, 56, his wife Tooba, 39, and their son Hamed, 18, are each charged with four counts of first-degree murder and four counts of conspiracy to commit murder.

At any rate, if Canada’s nanny-state cared, they’d make it mandatory for Muslim women to wear life jackets under their hajibs! Or drain all their swimming pools.
