Palin Ethics Investigator Closely Tied to Democratic Party

Independent investigator Thomas Daniel has contributed $3,500 in recent years to Democratic causes, including $1,500 to John Kerry's presidential campaign in 2004 and $1,000 to Alaska Sen. Mark Begich's senatorial campaign last year.

The independent investigator who has accused Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin of violating state ethics laws is a major donor to the Democratic Party as well as a partner in a law firm that represented Barack Obama's presidential campaign.

Thomas Daniel was hired by the Alaska Personnel Board in late April to investigate several complaints against Palin, including one filed by an Alaska resident who claims the governor used her official position for personal gain by authorizing the creation of a trust to use as her legal defense fund.

In a July 14 report leaked to The Associated Press and major news organizations, Daniel accused Palin of drawing improper gifts and unwarranted benefits. His report recommended that Palin refuse to accept payment from the defense fund and settle the complaint to avoid a formal hearing before the board.

Palin's supporters say the governor, who will resign on Sunday, needs the legal fund because of a quirk in Alaska law that prevents state officials from defending the state's chief executive against ethics allegations.

"The whole situation is nuts," said John Coale, a prominent Washington attorney who helped set up the legal fund, which so far has accepted $500,000 in donations. "Alaska has an ethics law that is unsustainable."

Coale also accused the personnel board of being "either vicious or idiotic" to hire Daniel, whose law firm is closely tied to the Democratic Party.

Daniel has contributed $3,500 in recent years to Democratic causes, including $1,500 to Sen. John Kerry's presidential campaign in 2004...

Just another paid, political hit job. The GOP had better learn how to fight back or the GOP will sink into oblivion. This guy needs his reputation destroyed...

Why isn’t the media reporting it, because the media is in the tank for the messiah. Just look at them cover up for Obama’s idiotic comment about the police officer. They will defend Obama til the day they die

Why Is The MSM Suppressing This?

Don't expect many replies when you ask a rhetorical question.

Somebody tell the idiot at FoxNews who designed the Politics section that it sucks. You cannot print it out in readable print. Besides that, there is no “PRINT” command and no one to contact to complain about it.

If any FRers know how you can print the text in a 12 pt font, please let me know.

Palin passed the anti-corruption leglislation that is being used against her. She did not think it through all the way...

You have to be smart enough to project into the future how unscruplous Democrats will use laws you advocate. Hence we have the stupid party and the evil party.

Also, her people should not be covering any more about how badly she has been treated by the media now. It’s time to ignore the idiots until she gets the chance to make fun of them in person. She should ridicule them; make people laugh about the over top stuff they have said and done. She should memorize a series of jokes about them.

MSM had no problem at all stating that the police union in Cambridge endorsed John McCain. Therefore, their support of the police officer was tainted by politics.

How very interesting, this double standard.

According to the Anchorage Daily News tonight, this Tom Daniel is in a rotation of three investigators hired by the Personnel Board. He’s cleared Palin on 5 of the 6 ethics complaints he’s been assigned to date. John Coale, Greta’s husband, and the the other ‘expert’ attorney from Georgia, apparently are professionally embarrassed as Alaska ethics law doesn’t allow legal defense funds as they do back east. At least, in this investigators opinion. Palin doesn’t really want this to go to formal hearing. Sworn testimony, subpoena’s, etc. Someone may even want to subpoena Becki Donatelli, the first fund-raiser for SarahPac who quit the day after this unregulated Fund was established up here in Alaska.
