A child born abroad out-of-wedlock to a U.S. citizen mother may acquire U.S. citizenship under section 301(g) of the Act if the mother was a U.S. citizen at the time of the child’s birth, and if the mother had previously been present in the U.S. or one of its outlying possessions for a continuous period of one year.
And the way I understand it is that the law you si cite was not the one in effect at the time of his birth. At that time, he only got us citizenship if the citizen parent had been a citizen at least 5 years after the age of 18.She had not.Anyway he would automatically get the citizenship of his father, British.
