O'S BROKEN PROMISES HEALTH BILLS V. PREZ'S WORDS (by Mark Levin's Fri. guest)

PRESIDENT Obama promises that "if you like your health plan, you can keep it," even after he reforms our health-care system. That's untrue. The bills now before Congress would force you to switch to a managed-care plan with limits on your access to specialists and tests. snip

When you file your taxes, if you can't prove to the IRS that you are in a qualified plan, you'll be fined thousands of dollars -- as much as the average cost of a health plan for your family size -- and then automatically enrolled in a randomly selected plan (House bill, p. 167-168). snip

One troubling provision of the House bill compels seniors to submit to a counseling session every five years (and more often if they become sick or go into a nursing home) about alternatives for end-of-life care (House bill, p. 425-430). The sessions cover highly sensitive matters such as whether to receive antibiotics and "the use of artificially administered nutrition and hydration."

This mandate invites abuse, and seniors could easily be pushed to refuse care. Do we really want government involved in such deeply personal issues?

Surely you don’t trust the Obama people to give your loved ones good advice, do you?

They will do everything to extend their lives (Kennedy, et al), but not yours, or your loved ones.

From the article: Shockingly, only a portion of the money accumulated from slashing senior benefits and raising taxes goes to pay for covering the uninsured. The Senate bill allocates huge sums to "community transformation grants," home visits for expectant families, services for migrant workers -- and the creation of dozens of new government councils, programs and advisory boards slipped into the last 500 pages.

I hadn't heard about this part before. Sounds like another way to fund ACORN. Heaven help us.

FYI:

A “Will to Live” is better than a “Living Will” and can be downloaded to be used, or just used as an example, from www.nrlc.org.

Always make sure you know what you’re getting into with a “living will.” For instance, if you say: “I don’t want to be on a respirator,” it could mean one thing if it would only prolong an imminent death for months or years, and another thing if it would only be needed for 48 or more hours after an accident, and one could be restored to normal health.

The Will to Live
When Marjorie Nighbert entered a nursing home after having a stroke, she did not expect to be starved to death, but that is what happened when she became a victim of her own “wishes.”
Like many people, she did not want her life to be prolonged when death was imminent. So Nighbert created a durable power of attorney (DPA), in which she gave her brother control over medical decisions in case she could not make them for herself. And according to the family lawyer, Nighbert said she did not want a feeding tube if she became terminally ill.
When Nighbert fell ill the nursing home followed the orders of the DPA and denied her food and water for two weeks. But then something unexpected happened: She asked to be fed. A court battle ensued, and the court ultimately upheld the nursing home’s decision to deny Nighbert food and water. According to the judge, Nighbert was not competent to ask for food, and to give her food would constitute “extraordinary means.”
Nighbert died on April 6, 1995.
Excerpt from:

http://www.feministsforlife.org/taf/1995/winter/wiltoliv.htm

To prevent people from suffering the same fate as Marjorie Nighbert, the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC) has created the Will to Live. This differs from the living will by being based on a general presumption for life. It is also much more detailed to avoid ambiguities that could later be interpreted in favor of death. Currently, the Will to Live is complete for fourteen states: Alaska, Arizona, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, South Dakota, Washington, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. The other states are in various stages of preparation and will be completed soon.
If you would like a Will to Live for one of the states mentioned, send a business size, self- addressed, stamped envelope to:
The Will to Live Project
419 7th Street, NW, Suite 500
Washington, D.C. 20004.

ALSO, you can download a WILL TO LIVE from www.nrlc.org and use it as a guideline if it is not offered in your state.

When the end of life counselor shows up in my room, he is going to think he landed at Omaha Beach.

I was thinking about my old trusty .45 being there under my pillow when I read this comment. Who would have thought we'd ever get to a point in America where we had to "shoot our way out of death?"

I'm old and on MediCare. The first "doctor" to advise me to off myself will be emphatically invited to go first.

I’m out of the country, 3 years already this term on missionary assignment. It is a way I have to serve while I’m abroad. Since the general election last November, my letters to my elected representives on major issues number near 200.

Every letter I write, regardless of the issue, goes to every single one of my reps, at every level, Federal, State, and local, including my county sheriff.

A couple of them at state level comlained to me that some issues don’t involve their office. My response is always that it had better START involving their office!

This bill is blatantly unconstitutional. I have a God given right to seek medical services with the doctor of my choice. Congress has no legitimate power to force or fine me for doing so.

This is tyranny.

I am not sure Byrd would be included, since he dares to question the constitutionality of some of the o’s activities.

Good job on copying everyone John and remind those that complain about getting your correspondence that THEY are citizens of this great country and need to be made aware of what’s going on!

BUT: Outlawing private insurance, WOULD reduce the demand for medical services, and push costs way down. If everyone had to pay ALL their medical costs themselves, they WOULD shop around, just like they do now for auto repairs, and they would not approve spending on frivolous tests, any more than they would for silly accessories for their own car. Inside 2 years, hospital, MRI and other tests, and physician prices wold be in the BASEMENT.
