Unemployment Goes Broke in Texas
KTEN.com ^ | 7/16/2009 | Deeda Payton

Bad news for the unemployed, Texas' unemployment fund will be empty by next week.

People who have been out of work for 59-weeks or more and are eligible for the additional 13 weeks of unemployment benefits are the only ones who will be affected.

That amounts to about 15-thousand people statewide. Those 15,000 in the extended benefits program will not get a check until the money comes back from the department of labor.

The Texas Workforce Commission's has already taken out interest-free loans from the Department of Labor to keep paying the regular unemployment insurance.

Bottom line, if you're one of the 822,000 Texans claiming unemployment, just hang in there.

Better yet, get the illegals off the unemployment rolls, fired from jobs, out of the schools abd out of the country.

Jobs will open up, under the table salaries will cease and free benefits will disappear.

Solved. Get on it Texas, we’re right behind you !

Then there was the son of a friend of mine that has his own RV repair business, he was ALWAYS looking for dependable help.

Seen the RV biz lately? Their doing about as well as those that install public pay telephones..

Few are taking vacations like they used to, then throw in the expensive price of fuel. Most are more worried about keeping their jobs if they have one, than taking that vacation in the RV...Then throw in RV payments, storage fees...Well the RV biz in circling the drain.

Got a neighbor trying to sell a mid sized RV for the past 9 months or so. Still there.

Even Limbaugh said last week, "Enjoy them while you can."

not i said the cat.or was it the duck? oh well one of those critters said “not i”. i agree except i see a govt that squanders what it does not have. the current admin seems to think the “rich” will pay for everything. maybe they should read New Deal or Raw Deal. this soak the rich tactic has been tried and has failed before. tax hikes will roll down hill thru the market and everyone will be worse off than before. unlike some here at FR i believe next election will put a halt to all of it, because people are waking up and getting fed up with this crap. they see the dems pushing it harder and doing more and more to harm our country and they will push back. next election the conservatives will sweep the congress and hamstring his majesty barry hussein and start revoking all of the dems junk. they will do this because it is what we the people want and they will know that the clock is ticking. we want results we want them soon and if we do not get them we will find new people who will give us what we want. there is a conservative revolution coming at the ballot box.

Didn’t Texas refuse the bailout?

They refused at least part of it and one of the parts was they wouldn’t accept Federal Funny Money for Unemployment because of the strings attached.

As in, if you take this money for this cause then when the money runs out you have to pay it out of State money and if you don’t we will sue the entire State of Texas. yep and yee ha.

I think those who have held steady employment for the past few years or so and still have their jobs, don’t realize how bad it is. Of course much of it depends on your skill set and where you live...but we are approaching depression era numbers. It’s not a little recession then back to normal next year.

I would also hazard a guess that many of those help wanted signs are looking for the illegal kind of help, they can pay under the table, and not worry about pesky withholding taxes or minimum wages, safety standards, those kind of things. US citizens need not apply. I speak from some experience here.

part of the problem is, texas has had a great run so far and that has drawn people to the state looking for work. More people chasing jobs.....as the texas run starts to slow = more on unemployment.

The state yes, but many cities and towns are still trying to get a piece of the pie though.

You both have valid points and are well taken. I probably wasn’t clear but the entire Bush “era” was a roaring economy. My wife has been in the escrow business for darn near 40 years, she knows the ups and downs of the property/housing business and yes NOW it certainly has tanked.

Remember the constant negative reporting on the economy during this last 8 years when it was actually doing great guns (I’m talking Texas, not anywhere else)? Well, now they got what they wished for and good luck with that.

And my young friend (with the RV repair) rarely goes anywhere now but dammit, for years he was doing very well. All this has come pretty much to a screeching halt under this Fascist government.

I still see help wanted signs, the days of being choosy are OVER, probably for good. There’s going to be a huge blackmarket/underground economy like never before and more power to them (us).

I understand...A very large RV center, sales, repair, service everything and had been in biz for years, with MULTIPLE locations in my territory ...

It went out of business about 6 months ago. Nothing was selling...

1930's Depression lasted until something out of the ordinary and not part of the communist narrative shook up the public conciousness. Without the attack on Pearl Harbor - we would all be speaking German.

With a registered communist serving as Roosevelt's VP and marxists on TV, on the radio and in every schoolroom, it is no wonder that the country was near dead in the 1930's. Socialists don't do well when other people's money runs out and they have no idea how to run a county. They sure know how to ruin one, though.

Hopefully, Obama and his Rahm won't call out the national guard to ensure the next election goes their way. A nasty conflagration would only serve as an inviation to the Ruskies to nuke us silly.

This young man just has an RV repair, no dealership, basically him and his wife. Up until these last few months, he was always asking for us to send some potential help his way, it was very steady work, now I fear the worst.

"You need food and water and electrical generator but most of all you need big caliber rapid fire arms and lots of ammo."

Check.

I have all.
