FWIW, the comments are not racist. Had it been Amy Carter in the same situation, the same or similar comments and pejoratives would have been used. And actually, they are valid!
Yes the girls is only 11. But she is making an extreme POLITICAL statement while in the bright glare of a World Summit trip. That is, as the daughter of the President (albeit likely usurper), she is representing ALL Americans.
Still, it was very AMERICAN of her to so publicly express he politics! Hooray for Maia, eleven year old, un-afraid to speak he mind. A real American.
But as she enters the political fray, so then may any speck about her and to her on that same issue. And so they did!
That too, is American!
By wearing that shirts, Malia rubbed salt in the wounds of old scars from the Viet Nam War era, a time when our Military servicemen and women were vilely degraded, spat upon, called names and epithets far more vile.
Jane Fonda, John Kerry and many others did in those distressful times what would in older eras have gotten them arrested and convicted of treason. And when many of us see that peace sign — it is those traitors unpunished that come to mind. So Malia’s statement was reasonably seen beforehand to bring on exactly the agonized and anger provoked sentiment seen in replay to her.
Where were the responsible adults in her life? Where was her Mom to say, “Honey, that’s a nice shirt but we have to consider the feelings of ALL Americans. This is not the time and place to wear it.”
Where were Malia’s Mom and Dad?
Are you serious? There is no way on earth that that was HER decision to wear a "peace" symbol shirt. It was obviously something her parents or Obama's left-wing advisers came up with. The "peace" movement has been the child of the commie left for decades. And what was it Obama was doing there? Working out a deal with the Russians on "nuclear disarmament"!
