And often times they aren’t just critics, but are pathological bashers and in such cases, they often ARE closet liberals or elitists.
I’m not big into the Palin wars, but I do see a great deal of elitism in many of the anti-Palin people around Free Republic. I also have particular distaste for the method this poster used to make his argument. It is sleazy.
I’ve always seen a lot of elitism from Mitt Romney supporters in particular. They think that the conservatives in the party (in their eyes, the riff-raff) should buy Mitt’s BS hook, line, and sinker, while the elites appreciate how ‘nuanced’ and ‘enlightened’ he actually is. The candidate and his supporters are living, breathing insults to the intelligence of conservative voters.
I certainly won’t disagree with you on Romney. There was a thread the other day where Romney gave Massachusetts health care reform an ‘A’. One of his apologists trotted out the usual excuse that Romney’s plan was good before the Democrats in the State House got a hold of it. This despite the fact that the plan Romney was praising was the final product of that tinkering.
