Perhaps it could be said that Palin shares the conservative views of Reagan. However, Reagan had written and spoken eloquently of his views extensively in the 60s and 70s before running in 76 and again in 80. Plus, he completed two full terms as Governor of the most populous state in the nation.

Sorry, but Palin has a long way to go. IMO, she’s already seen the highest national poll numbers she’ll ever see.

The conservative movement has not yet found the right standard bearer who can be elected President.

Well said. I like Sarah Palin but wasn’t fully convinced she was the real deal. Conservatives liked her traditional values and beliefs, and her down to earth nature. As a running mate for McCain, she did a good job firing up the troops and that led to her being touted as a strong candidate for the GOP in 2012 and a good alternative to the liberal, Mitt Romney. Sadly, Palin’s resignation has changed all that.

Great post. The Palin cult worship here is a little disconcerting. I'm not convinced that she has what it takes to be the standard bearer...she has been Quayled in the public arena, and that is something she probably won't be able to recover from. Your last statement is the most true...the conservative movement has not yet found the right standard bearer who can be elected President.
