If we can’t even clean up THIS house, how on earth are we ever going to clean up Congress?

I'm usually one of the most optimistic people on FR (at least judging by some of the posts I've seen over the past 4 years...) but I'm starting to doubt Congress can ever be cleaned up.

If by some miracle conservative Republicans regain power in the House, I have a nice long list of rules I'd like to see enacted:

I can keep going, but you get the idea.

If by some miracle conservative Republicans regain power in the House, I have a nice long list of rules I'd like to see enacted:

* Full length of bills limited to 5 printed pages, typed in 14-point double-spaced Times New Roman, Segoe UI, or Lucida Grande font;
* Amendments to bills limited to 1 page with the same typeset requirements as full bills;
* A header on each bill and amendment citing the specific Article, Section, and Clause of the US Constitution which justifies the legality of the provisions inside that bill and amendment;
* Bills and amendments must be submitted to the Speaker in person by all of the co-sponsors of the bill or amendment, identified by voice and signature on the bill or amendment;
* Bills and amendments can only be submitted during normal session with a quorum;
* Bills cannot be voted on for 7 days after their submission, plus 2 days for each amendment to the bill, with an exception for emergency acts such as declarations of war;
* Reading of bills and amendments to a normal session with quorum is mandatory before voting is scheduled;
* Full text of all bills and amendments must be placed on the Internet in searchable DOC, PDF, and ODF formats on the same day as their acceptance by the House Speaker;

Just reading those proposed new rules lifts my spirit. This is the type of change that America actually needs. Not Bozo's brand, which is only further enslavement.

Save those, if you will, T. They need to be communicated to the coming Republican party revolutionaries. I'd like to see a re-invigorated right, push for these congressional reforms.
