Ann Coulter Explains Palin's Exit
Women of the Web ^ | July 4, 2009 | Ann Coulter

Posted on 07/05/2009 10:17:12 PM PDT by SolidWood

I’m confused by all the confusion among the chattering classes about Palin. I thought her press conference explained it very clearly – though she couldn’t put it precisely this way without sounding vain, but it’s obvious.

Even though she’s just a state governor, she’s a HUGE national star who is both sought after and attacked as if she is already a president (a Bush, not an Obama). But she basically can’t participate because she’s tethered to the governor’s office up in Alaska. Consequently, she has to fight with one hand tied behind her back and she also can’t go around the country campaigning for candidates and principles she believes in – because she’s governor and would be accused of neglecting the state.

Meanwhile, the Lt. Gov. is a great guy, so she’s leaving the state in good hands and now she can go on to be an even bigger star.

It’s a weird Washington insider perspective to be perplexed by what she’s doing. Contrary to Mark Sanford’s e-mails to his mistress, no one was really impressed with him; 99.99999999999999999% of Americans didn’t know who he was. Who is more influential: Rush Limbaugh, Matt Drudge and Bill O’Reilly, or Tim Pawlenty, Bobby Jindal and Mark Sanford (before the fall)? As Palin said, God bless people who run for political office, but – and she didn’t say this part – she’s too big to be a lame-duck governor stuck dealing with fishing licenses in Anchorage right now.

She’ll be much bigger now and can play on the national stage without constantly setting off state ethics investigations by loons, parasites and liberals. None of this applied to McCain or Kerry – both of whom went back to the Senate – because their national campaigns diminished them. Palin’s national campaign made her a major star. As she said, she’s not retreating, she’s advancing in another direction.

By quitting, she destroys those values. She crushes what I believed she stood for. She validates her critics with this move.

Wind, what say your instincts? Methinks Tucker is overdoing the doom-and-gloom, but it might be he's just sexually frustrated over her?

Tuck,

You can lay off now. She's already married.

Cheers!

I thought he ran even earlier. Like in '68.

No, he graciously stepped aside to allow Ulysses S. Grant to take the nod. Cheers!

That had to have been Liz Tratta, former NBC reporter. Usually she’s pretty good.

It was Liz. I saw it and she was every bit as nasty as hs said she was.

I've never seen her like that but it sure changed my opinion about Tratta.

So funny how Palin has thrown most of the "talkers" off track and they don't like it one bit.

I even saw Michael Reagan saying she was done. All because she didn't consult him. He kept saying he wanted to give her advice but she didn't ask him! lol

I think I will wait for Palin to explain Palin’s exit. Speculation is just that, speculation.

Read her facebook statement and her resignation speech.

The reasons are there. The only thing “shrouded in mystery” are what she is going AFTER her resignation.

I read it and I heard her give the speech. I heard and understand her reasons for leaving, but she gave little to really indicate her future plans. I think we need to let her tell us her next step, not spend all this time speculating on what she may or may not do next. In the mean time, time’s a wastin’ and there is much to do.

Look at how much experience Obama has. And he never accomplished a fraction of what Palin has done.

You only have to be smart enough to be able to spell 'veto'...As far as experience, that's why they spend billions on cabinets, staff and think groups...

Look at Obama...He just reports what 'they' decide on his team of teleprompters...

My response to RNC telemarketers will be, “Sorry, my money is going to Sarah. If the RNC wants some of it get on board the Sarah train.”

I agree with you that the resignation is a major issue. Not sure I'd call it "stupid," since no one is quite sure yet what Gov. Palin wants to do-- depending on her goals, it could be a smart move (for her). I doubt she was "tricked into" resigning, because I think she would be too smart to fall for such a ruse.

I have read the comparisons to Nixon, Reagan, etc., and they all leave out a key issue: neither of these predecessors resigned an elected office. I think the "quitter" label will be hard to shake. I hope Ann Coulter is right, but I tend to agree more with Mark Steyn's view. I hope to be proven wrong.

Your post is the most idiotic thing I have read on the internet in some time, and that’s really saying saying something given the garbage that floats around these days.In a few sentences, you have managed to show everyone that you: a) Have absolutlely no idea what the term “conservative” means; b) do not actually read the news, but only respond emotionally to it; c) can not only read minds but predict the future as well, as every syllable of idiocy you have uttered has not even a single shred of evidence to back it up.

By definition, you are a liberal. Please see my tagline if you have any questions, DUmmy.

Actually, he couldn’t announce his run until NBC gave him the greenlight... which they wouldn’t do until after the “rerun” season of Law and Order. That meant September.
